We need more words to describe games in a sensible manner without cutting their features short just because we want them to fit in a label. Example: Jet Set Radio is radical sports platformer with tagging action. People could look up the words "tagging", "platforming" or "radical sports" that this game would show up among others by matching these terms. It doesn't matter whether Tony Hawk's Pro Skater appears to the side of it or not. Reading the game's description would make people realize their differences. Psychonauts alongside Jet Set Radio as a platformer is of no harm to either one as well.

Now I wish I could see S-Video footage in Europe to tell the difference.

I can't get into real-time strategy games that are competitive. I prefer to play their campaigns instead of wasting time online. Granted that I'll never get the meat of games such as Starcraft, but Warcraft had legacy and a story to tell with good value for its worth, so there's something for everyone who is curious about the genre.

Atlus, but Square Enix are innovating, since they turned their own ATB system into real time battle engagement and party management. They took notes from classic MMO RPG before these turned into hack and slash games with stats and customization, and Final Fantasy XIV is closer to the former than to the latter, despite the fact that XV was streamlined from XII. Xenoblade Chronicles was another.

PC gaming between 1998 and 2002: Mouse look became the standard, the joystick and throttle were dying out, a keyboard only setup remained and the gamepads still hadn't taken off. There were more in-game custom options, mission briefs to prepare them, stories told in real time and with cutscenes using its graphics. Those years prepared the future of modern PC gaming, just like the Famicom did with classic gaming, although you could argue that 2003 through 2007 were better.

Video game consoles changed rapidly in their infancy. They have ceased to grow now like young adults. Just wait until they get into a middle life crisis to either change for the better or to go through life quicker than a teenager.

I want a controller with two thumb dials or radio buttons that can be clicked on their outer rim to register movement and camera in two axes with their rotation being the third for six degrees of freedom.

This is interesting. I don't know whether it would work or not.
