@Delston

Or you could read it as, don't let your mouth make cheques that your backside cannot cash.

Think of Molyneux and how he likes to promote all sorts of features, which don't end up incorporated into the game at all.

Or in this case, don't say you're going to have radically different endings, and that you won't be limiting it to three, and then limit it to three, and essentially just have a pallet swap for the endings. :P

There's nothing wrong with a sad or bad ending, it just has to fit within the world you've created with your game. Dreamweb and F/SN are good examples of this.

But ME3, changes the entire premise of the game in the last 10 min or so. That's not being original or creative, that's just bad writing.

@n64nut Saren? Not so much.

Wrex? Would make it easier to recruit the Krogan, and thus influences how much force you can muster against the Reapers.

It can make a big difference if a personal friend is leading a group, or someone whose trust you still have to earn.

Rachi Queen? In principle it would mean that the Rachni too might be able to help in the fight against the Reapers. They were used once before by them, so them developing measures to counter that would be logical, plus it would allow them a measure of revenge annex redemption in the eyes of the Galactic community, the latter would be rather handy as it would help make the case, that it would be wrong to wipe the Rachni out. Thus ensuring that they could live out their lives and rebuild their society after the Reaper War.

Thus, from a theoretical pov, both the Wrex/Rachni Queen options would have a significant effect on the overall chance to achieve victory in a war against the Reapers.

@Ronaldo27

Managed to get some additional details elsewhere, that Gamespot left out of this article for some reason.

a) They apparently asked Microsofts help, but the latter refused to do so without a court order.

b) They also apparently asked their security firm InGuardians to do it, they responded with that they weren't prepared to tackle the "legal hurdles."

Spying on the internal e-mail system is fully legal, but considering that comment, as well as them trying to involve Microsoft, I'm guessing that they had hotmail accounts.

Now considering that this came from Activision's chief legal officer, well, if true, then someone should be disbarred for life a la Jack Thompson.

Considering a lot of folks seem to have a hard time, grokking what an ARG is. Here's a definition. Alternate Reality Gaming: "A cross-media genre of interactive fiction using multiple delivery and communications media, including television, radio, newpapers, Internet, email, SMS, telephone, voicemail, and postal service. Gaming is typically comprised of a secret group of PuppetMasters who author, manipulate, and otherwise control the storyline, related scenarios, and puzzles and a public group of players, the collective detective that attempts to solve the puzzles and thereby win the furtherance of the story." Still think that regular games equate to ARGs?

@lizzardman666 Incorrect, neither The Wish or Search 4 E were connected to any outside product. And they're hardly the only examples of this. Just poke around www.argn.com or www.unfiction.com and you'll find plenty of others.

@xboxfanonly @rasputin177 Try the following link: http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/I_Love_Bees_Synopsis @mooncalfreviews How many games do you know of, where you suddenly get a phone call at 3 AM in the morning? ARGs blur the line between the reality we live in, and the world they're hinting at. Whether it be Search 4 E, The WIsh, I love Bees, The Beast, Push, Nevada. etc etc. As Unfallen_Satan pointed out, sometimes the target audience for the product being promoted and the ARG don't sync up. And sometimes they do. Think of it as a sibling to Murder Mystery Parties. Because the end effect of the ones that do sync.. Well, customer loyalty tends to be far higher.
