[QUOTE="Utsusemi"]I've already picked up all the periphrals that I want. Nothing impressive but there's nothing out there that I want more than what I already have (2x 19" Widescreen, DiNovo, Revolution, G5, z2300, etc.). A lot of those were purchased recently.
I will still be using this computer from time to time after I built the new computer, probrobly for some light gaming action for friends that come over. But i already have monitors and stuff for that.
Other suggestions welcomed. And thanks for replying.kodex1717
Why don't you get a third monitor? I don't know about you, but I've always looked at peripheral vision in a shooter as an advantage. Plus, it just looks awesome.

A 3rd monitor is just too much screen for me. Unless I was to get an HDTV, but that's a plan for a few months later.

Hello everyone, I'm looking for an opinion for an upgrade for my 3 yr old computer. I understand now is not the best time to upgrade, and I will be building a quad core (going all out, planning about $2000 more or less)  shortly after the July 22nd price drop. But I'm seriously itching here people. I am willing to drop down about $200 (cdn) to hold me down 'till August/September. Here are my specs:
-p4 2.8c 800FSB -Asus P4p800 Deluxe -1gb pc2700 ddr ram -Geforce 6600gt -36gb raptor  -HD120gb sata HD -450w generic PSU
I have a Zalman 7000a-Cu on my processor so I keep it OC'ed to 3.34MHz. I am an average gamer and I've been playing most of the newer games (Supreme Commander with dual mon, C&C3, Battlefield 2142, Oblivion, Company of Heroes, etc etc) on low, but it doesn't bother me at all as long as it's in 1280x1024 and doesn't stutter. Currently running XP sp2, but I've ran Vista and it was fine, it's just not time for it yet.
My personal opinion is to either ditch the pc2700 ram and get myself 4 x 512 ddr400. Or maybe a 7600gs/x1650 pro (7600gt AGP is rare as hell to find, but due to bottle-necking, it's probably not worth it). Maybe a Zalman VF700-Cu so then i could OC my 6600gt? What would give me the highest performance boost for the price?

Any comments are welcomed. Thanks for your time.

I visit my parents almost every weekend. Back home, I'm stuck with a:

  • PII 350mhz
  • 256mb ram
  • Voodoo5 5500 PCI 64mb
  • 40gb HD (noisy as hell)
  • 17" Viewsonic CRT

I scavenged these parts from 6 different computers (it's got alot of ram for a PII). It used to run Win98 but gave me so much headache that I finally decided to go back to XP, which works perfectly. I use it mostly to surf, msn, and Diablo II!

I've been on a hunt for newer/better parts and old PC games at garage sales ever since.
