Good picks. That processor is awesome by the way, I benched it like crazy when I tested it out. It overclocks real well. And plus you have an AMD chipset board which overclock great.

If you plan to do Crossfire note that both will only be at 8x, so it won't be full speed.

Good picks, you'll be pretty impressed. That processor really is a powerhouse, and you can push it hard.

Bit of info about raiding ssds:

1) There is currently no way to pass the TRIM instruction to a drive that is a member of a RAID array. Intel's latest RAID drivers allow you to TRIM non-member RAID disks, but not an SSD in a RAID array.

2) Giving up TRIM support means that you need a fairly resilient SSD, one whose performance will not degrade tremendously over time. On the bright side, with the exception of the newer SandForce controllers, I'm not sure we've seen a controller as resilient as Intel's."

Dirky17

OCZ has developed a tool specifically for raided ssd's of their brand called the OCZ Garbage Collector. This program acts as a trim utility that you can run manually, that way if you RAID ssd's you don't lose Trim support, you just have to run it yourself.

This is very true and is actually how I'm currently running my 2 120GB OCZ SSDs.

I think it is too. Don't hate me for saying it please. No doubt they're much faster, but it's no where near giving up all that space capacity. The trade-off isn't worth it.

I agree as well.

They are a bit expensive really, but they do make your system a little snappier. As the OP said he has storage drives. They're future proof but that's about it. Until SSD becomes the standard I don't think many will justify the price.

Definetly go with that 850W, always go higher than lower. And never ever go cheap on a power supply. I'd go with the Rosewill. They even make one with a modular cables, they're awesome and well worth the money. I think there's one made by Rosewill that's around $125.

Crossfire only on AMD boards, as stated above, and as it specifically says "CrossFire Board" on that site.

If you want a nice board that can do SLI with an AMD socket, check out ASUS' 980a chipset boards. There's one for about $140 on Newegg that will do SLI just fine. I actually run that same board I'm talking about in my AMD system, and I have SLI'd 460GTX's. That board is awesome. Let me know if you need a link.

AMD boards that support SLI are very uncommon.

SSDs are great, they're a lot faster. I think it's a good purchase, as SSD is "future proof".

I'd RAID those up and have that as a system drive. I don't know how big of a jump of improvement you'll see over your raptor, that is if it's faster than 7200RPM (ie, 10k, 15k)

Enjoy those.

Everyone has pretty much covered it. Custom is way better than prebuilds, just because of the freedom.

Not to mention custom rigs are usually astetically pleasing :P
