Their whole focus was the consoles. Mass Effect 2 had mechanics similiar to these and was amazing on all three platforms, they figured it wouldn't matter if they completely changed the layout of Origins so they could get the top-selling game platforms the better gameplay and "respect" that some think they deserve, others, like me, think they already have. They could have kept the basic Origin format so they could keep the PC gamers happy, while adding the features that consoles didn't allow before to it. Add some tweaks to the engine and you have a game I would have actually enjoyed. Dragon Age 2 was a dissapointment, I hope they fix their mistakes with ME3.
