They aren't even "micro-transactions" anymore. Companies will allow you to spend literally hundreds of dollars in a single sitting. Rift will let you buy the entire T1 raid gear for something like 380$? Wtf is "micro" about that? That doesn't even include trimmings such as accessories/trinkets/capes blah blah.

They don't want to nickle and dime you, true, they want ALL the money right gd now. EA and Trion are hardly the only ones. I would absolutely love to play Fallout 4 but I know from past experience that you're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't buy a GOTY edition and instead buy the game in pieces.

@KBABZ: I feel ya, I think I just worded my opinion incorrectly. My point is that people shouldn't be like "Yay MS/Sony" backwards compatibility, it should have been there all along. I suppose people should definitely let them know they enjoy the feature.

@grognard66: No, it very much was MS themselves when presenting their new console. Do you not remember the rabblin' that happened about the mandatory Kinect and always online issues? I do because this very site kept stirring the kettle, getting brand fanatics to defend their new toy purchase with some of the worst kind of click-bait articles.

So you never took your console game disc to a friends to play games with them? The "draconian DRM" of needing the proper operating system to run? I find that odd seeing as how PS3 games, while requiring installation could be installed as many times as you want. I have three buddies that repeatedly borrow my Red Dead Redemption for PS3, no idea how many times that game has been installed. My PC games on the other hand, I've been fighting DRM there since I tried to get Eye of The Beholder 2 back in the early 90's. Where exactly are you pulling the information from to form these opinions? Consoles DRM was exactly the same as PC's in that you had to have the original disc but could play from your home or the home of any of your friends. Almost everything since the move to CDs has required the disc be in the drive during game play (if you didn't take the time to dnload a no CD patch). Before that 3.5" discs could and were rigged to only install once. There were plenty of ways around that DRM as well. Meh blah blah blah.

I'm sure you're HaRdCoRe bro, but it doesn't take a super srs gamer to make researching your purchases a good idea.

@stormcloud29: Are you speaking from experience? I mean, are you a parent? If so, how many kids do you have? I have three and I have yet to find any of them on pornhub.

I once saw google return a "hot teenage girls" in the auto-fill box. You find something like that, it's time to have a talk with your child. Curiosity isn't evil. Your genitals, they're not evil either. Do not alienate or shut your kid in the closest because you have a self-proclaimed right to never feel awkward.

Then again, if your toddler is somehow on pornhub without you actually sitting it at the computer, maybe sign it up for computer science ASAP. Or... just watch wtf your kid is doing, WTF ARE YOU DOING HE'S ONLY THREE, OH GOD THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

But seriously, don't run around calling people bad parents because you read one opinion they had on a comments section. That's just being presumptuous.

@stormcloud29: Parent here, not GS's responsibility to police what my kids do and do not read, that's my job. I've given Eddie a whole lot of crap over his articles over the last few years but I do not believe this is anything more than a amused observation of data that's not really very scientific, and harmless at that.

@playstationzone: Wait, I missed the porn in the article?! It's fine, hiding and demonizing sex while glorifying violence isn't what all of us consider healthy. I have three kids and I wouldn't mind any of them accidentally coming across a PG-13 article.

Have people not been duped enough when it comes to the latest generation of console? Emulators have been around for yEaRs and are very small programs. All the consoles, regardless of product infrastructure, should have been backwards compatible from the get go, just like they used to be. Some ahole in marketing got a raise selling consumers products they already bought previously simply by holding your fond memories hostage.

Do not celebrate the mundane, this should have been policy from the get go, especially considering the x86 architecture the new systems use. You've been buying incomplete software for years, now you get to buy incomplete hardware too, how wOnDeRfUl.
