I only use the one shot items if my interceptor reaches 50% health, but I am playing on Normal at the moment. You need to have the Firestorm researched and built by the time the Overseer ship is on the map. In my current game I tried to take it down with the regular interceptor with plasma weapons and the UFO would always run away before I could finish killing it. Firestorm with Plasma Canon will take out the Overseer ship in four hits or so.

[QUOTE="Cobra5"]Overwatch is extremely helpful. The reason why a lot of people think it sucks is because they use to to defense against approaching enemies they haven't spotted yet. When you spot an enemy and shoot at overwatch, remember, you are just spotting them. That means they are at the longest range of your vision range, and your chance to hit will be very low. Overwatch is more important to use once the fight is already on. It prevents the enemy from flanking your position. This is especially important on Classic and Impossible, because if you go a turn without any overwatch, the enemy will rush your position and defeat you from one square away, or from behind your cover.

This is basically what I was going to say. Even if you don't get a reaction shot off, or you miss, Overwatching is useful if only for the fact that 90% of the time it keeps enemies in the same spot (with some obvious exceptions), giving you one or two turns to flank them.

I'm on about my 6th game now, haven't even come close to beating it yet. Basically if you neglect even just a little bit any of the one things you need (aircraft, soldiers and research/engineering), you're going to have a bad time. Capturing different types of aliens alive early on helps A LOT (something I didn't do until this current game). Keep in mind to that you probably aren't going to keep all the countries on the council. For example, in my current game I let all of Asia drop out along with Mexico and Canada, but kept everyone else happy.

So much judgment in here. Good for you guys, you can control your frustration. Some of us have trouble with that. For example, I have destroyed 3 PS3 controllers. Am I proud of it? No. Was it the controllers fault that I got more and more pissed to the point where I couldn't play the game properly anymore? No. Did I feel better after rage smashing an expensive electronic device? Hell yes. Of course, five minutes later I felt like an ass, but hey, I'm a passionate guy. Punching a pillow just doesnt satisfy my anger as much as the sound of plastic being crushed against the ground. Its funny, cause I am such a mellow person in real life, it takes a lot to piss me off. I just need to learn to stop playing when I feel myself getting angry. Point is, don't judge others, we all deal with emotion differently. Long as I'm not taking it out on another person y'all shouldn't have anything to say.

Edit: Oh, and I'm 27, have been playing since I was 12 and have been dealing with anger managment my entire life. Just because you don't understand someone else's motives for why they do things, even if they seem stupid or irrational, doesn't mean you should judge. And thats all I have to say about that.

Was on first, playing RTTS.  A teamate got a base hit and my player just stood there, no mater where I moved the stick or what button I pushed, for the final out of the inning.  Guess the computer has to cheat to win....
