I think SirWrinkles is about to have either orgasm or a heart attack, or both. Calm down, man. For someone who calls everyone nvidia's fanboys you sure don't hide which chip you're fan of. We get it. But we don't really care. In the end, it doesn't really matter what chip you buy, because it always scales with performance. If GTS is going to get HORRRRIBLY PWNED they way you want it so badly in the end, then it's going to be cheaper than 2900xt, and I'll buy it for cheap.
The new drivers may allow it to catch up to gts in games like Stalker and Oblivion, but they aren't going to make 2900xt a super card suddenly. It competes well with 640 gts, outperforms it on the whole, but that's all it really does, and gts is over 6 months old. It's disappointing, because I hoped the new line from ATI will help drop nvidia prices, but it looks like even gts won't decrease that much. I hope 2950xtx comes out soon, not because I want it, but because hopefully it'll bring gtx down into my price range.
@ rugripper40: According to their test an otherwise maxed out machine with 6800 card runs the game at MEDIUM setting and lousy 1280X1024 at 7 frames per second. That's not decent. That's not even playable. And 6800 card is NOT five years old. It's old, but it runs oblivion just fine. It will also likely run Crysis on medium and the same resolution better than that. So you know what? I'll just blame the game, okay?
