Is anyone else being plagued by these messages when trying to play online, especially via an invite? The "Game Session No Longer Exists" one is especially infuriating since I know for a fact that the game was, and is, still playing.

I am hoping it is a magical router issue. I say "magical" because I just put my PS3 in DMZ and it is still happening.

Sorry if posting this in a separate thread violates some sort of user agreemen, I just really would like to see if anyone else is experiencing the same ****

The thing that is baffling to me are the gross oversights by major developers in these online games. EA Sports and the wonderful, magnificant job they did with the depth chart - the FRIGGING DEPTH CHART - in NCAA Football 08; and I won't even get into their idea of stat-tracking or in-game communication (which I'll get back to). Then, we have Infinity Ward and their amusing issues that plagued much of the first six months of CoD4. Now, GTA. Admittedly, we are only on day two, but that doesn't excuse the lack of a LOBBY. A disconnect shouldn't end the multiplayer portion, especially considering it takes thirty seconds both ways to leave/enter multiplayer.

Is anyone having the 1 or more players have lost connection a bit too much? I mean i can't even play cuz it keeps coming up

DaddyLongCaddy

Yep. Add to the that the absurd part where if you leave a multiplayer game - for any reason - you have to go back to the single-player game. Why in the hell do these developers never, ever seem to get the SIMPLE things right with online games.

You can bring up the cell phone while you're in a multi-player game and jump right into another game, you don't have to go back to the single-player game.

Not when the game forces me to. When there is a disconnection, which is happening way too often to several people I know as well as me, it sends you back to the single-player mode.

Update: The CAP limit is apparently 160. I say "apparently" because I can't be 100% sure that I have exactly 160, but it is around there and created players are no longer showing up. Thus, this is the near-final roster version. If you really, really, really want the new one with 14 extra players, let me know and I will Email them to you. However, it is probably not worth it for you, especially if you started a dynasty already.

Good work, but you missed Devin(SP?) Setoguchi and Big Jeremy Roenick on San Jose.PBSnipes

They are already in the game and I am pretty sure on the Sharks' roster. I have a new update coming with about 40 additional players coming in 24-48 hours.

LIST OF PLAYERS CREATED

- Rochester is listed separate since it is a shared affiliate between Florida and Buffalo.

- There are 145 total players if you include the three I need to create. An asterisk indicates a player I totally forgot. I apologize, there were times my eyes were about to fall out of my head. It takes about five minutes to create each player, so it got a little tough.

Completely fed up with EA Sports extremely lackadaisical approach to providing gamers with updated rosters, I redid my previous effort. The past four days have been total hell on the eyes and rendered all other life tasks impossible. :) The original was posted on DigitalSportsMania and included only a handful of created players and nominal roster changes.

These don't. These are as official as it gets. Here is what this roster update includes:

- Rosters updated (with 99% accuracy) as of Saturday, October 20th.

- 145 created players, with at least four more to come in future updates. Their attributes were decided mainly using McKeen's Hockey, Red Line Report, TSN, the Hockey Forecaster, and Hockeydb.com. Other information was found through the always helpful Google.

- Corrected salaries, up to about 75% accuracy. This is a tedious task, so this will become further accurate in future updates.

Other things to know:

- Some players remained on their teams despite being sent packing to an ECHL team. I'd rather have them on an AHL team than in the FA pool.

- This will be updated semi-weekly here at On Fire.

- The potential rating was a very useful tool. I basically judged a player's potential by where they were drafted or their overseas experience (combined with age). This is important to know before asking me why Josef Boumedienne got a fairly decent rating; his rating won't be improving anytime soon.

- Also remember that if you do not like a rating, feel free to edit it yourself.

- Players coming over from Europe stayed in Europe and were instead created. I simply could not figure out what the hell caused the rosters to blow up if you brought them over from Europe. I checked lines, roster limits, contracts, and what not. No matter what I did, the rosters blew up.

- I paid absolutely no detail to what the players look like. I hope that doesn't detract from your experience.

Things to come

- Retired players will be "zero'ed" out. In other words, they will be given the worst possible rating and highest possible salary to prevent any CPU acquisitions in Franchise mode. I didn't do it now just in case people want to keep those players in the game.

- Massive player re-ratings. Some of these guys are rated horribly. Rico Fata is an example. Yeah, he can fly, but that is about all. In this game, speed can get you a lot of chances, so we have to tone him down in the other categories.

In any case, enjoy. I am sorry 360 owners, I don't have one, so I cannot help you.

Likely, the reason for the lax penalty is that Goddell and the NFL probably couldn't ascertain exactly how many times they did this. I know everyone who doesn't root for the Patriots has suddenly started calling the 2001, 2003, and 2004 title years into question, but you can't say if they did it then or not. Likewise, you can't punish teams based on one (maybe two) times.

Thus, the NFL punished the Patriots based on one guarenteed violation (Jets) and one possible one (Packers, last year). I am sure the Patriots went into the meetings screaming about how the Dolphins purchased a tape (which I don't believe) of every word that came out of Brady's mouth during a game. I still maintain they were up to it themselves. Yet, you can't punish team based on what I, you, or the other teams said.

All in all, I think they got as much as they likely deserve. As a fan, I am pissed because did we really have to tape the **** Jets?

As a Pats fan, I still think the rule is unnecassary, but it was/is a rule. That said, the penalty is fair. Mark my words, though, the Patriots will end up with a first-round draft pick even if they have to trade someone they don't want to. If anything I know about the Patriots in the 20 years I've been a fan, they are an arrogant sort and will do anything to make sure they are represented in the first round ... just to wink at the NFL.
