I have never heard that you can transfer things w/o the cable, otherwise why would they need the cable? If you get a new 120 gig, it comes with it though.

Silverpeel

Yeah, but that's a $60 difference if I get a new one vs. an old one.

I'm planning on picking up a used 120 GB HDD from Gamestop today, and I just wanted to make certain that I could make the transfer without the use of the cable. I've heard it both ways.

But my understanding is that I can just register on xbox.com about the transfer, then redownload all my DLC, etc onto the 120 GB HDD. Is this true, or should I hold off and try and get the cable and CD?

I just got a notice from my IP that I have copyrighted material on my computer, and can't have my internet back until I remove it. To be honest, I don't know what it is, and they won't tell me. I'm not a big downloader, but I don't want to delete everything I have. Is there any way to block a part of my HDD to keep them from viewing it? Hell, is it even legal for them to scan my HDD for things?

As a white person who grew up in a very white community (Minnesota suburbs, about as white as you can get outside of Maine or Alaska), I never experienced much of other cultures. We had maybe a dozen black kids and two dozen latinos in my school of 1500. Then I moved to Minneapolis proper (which, despite what many outside of MN might think, is relatively diverse) and had no problem adjusting to being around multiple ethnicities and cultures. So I was terribly surprised when I got in contact with people from my HS that didn't leave the 'burbs or moved to an even less diverse area (like North Dakota). Some of the things they said shocked me. For instance, I was stabbed in a mugging, and I was surprised how many of my "liberal" and "tolerant" friends asked, first and foremost "were they black?" No, they weren't, they were two meth-head wannabe gangsters. So, and I say this with all embarrassment for the white community (whatever that is), racism is quite prevalent amongst whites that live in non-diverse areas. So I'm guessing most of the racism you're getting is from kids living in upper-middle class suburbs or the rural midwest, who know not one black person on a first name basis. Hopefully they'll spend a year in a big city, or better yet, overseas, and learn the folly of their ways. Until then, there's always the option to mute and give them negative feedback, and hope others do the same until all those racists are in the same chat rooms and games and get sick of slinging racial epithets at other like-minded, ignorant whites.

In case this ever happens to anyone else, just delete the save file for the game itself. Lousy tech support... I had to teach THEM that. They were going to have me delete my gamer profile.

I made a horrible mistake and rented CSI: Hard Evidence for both the easy achievement points and a feeble attempt to get my girlfriend, a CSI junkie, into video games.

I noticed that it wouldn't play while my USB cord was still plugged in. "No worries," I thought to myself. "I'll just play the game offline, then plug it in again after I'm done." WRONG! I took the disc out, attempted to start up my system with the USB cord plugged back in, and it will go so far as to say "Krisko Disko signed into Xbox Live", but that message and the sign-in bubble beneath it won't disappear, and whatever game I had loading would stop. If I'm not loading a game, it just freezes on the dashboard.

Does anyone know what happened? Or, more importantly, what I should do?

Many thanks in advance to my hero.

Could I just use a normal USB network adapter?
