To answer your question; Couth voted for himself in one category. We have not yet started counting the votes and have not been patrolling every nomination and every category for potential rule breaking. If you've broken a rule your vote just won't be counted when we come to count them up. I had not seen Couth vote for himself. Even if i had, i wouldn't have made a big deal of it. I'd have just not counted it, which i'm sure he knows because he doesn't take this seriously anyway (which is the right attitude...). There's a difference between not taking something seriously however and basically make a complete joke out of it. I don't think voting for yourself in one category is 'way more extreme' than voting the same user in every single category, even in categories where the award doesn't even go to a user. And like i've also said, every single other poster has been able to vote without a problem using common sense. If you would like specific rules to stop every kind of potentially abusive behavior, i'm afraid that isn't really going to happen as this is a fun thing we do once a year and we don't want to bog it down with a big list of rules. For that reason, we leave it up to peoples own common sense to do the right thing and adhere to the general spirit of things, which everyone has managed to do so far. Hope that clears everything up. Ninja-Hippo

I understand what your saying :). Common sense told me that I could vote for anyone I wanted to as long as it wasn't against the rules. Remember this is the first time i participated in this thing. I had fun voting and I respect the whole thing... I look forward to voting next year :).

I know Couth and I am 100% certain that he doesn't give a damn about the awards. =P

Sky-

Respecting something and caring are two different things. On top of that, I think the relevant votes he posted should be counted. Or maybe Ninja wont count any of his votes because couth doesnt care.

[QUOTE="Ninja-Hippo"] Like i said, i'd rather not have to impose a big list of rules on people just to prevent certain types of behavior. Much like the last years 'stop voting for yourself' issue, this is something which is just common decency/common sense. You shouldn't need someone to force you to do it. :) If we have to make it a rule, i think that'd be somewhat sad. Ninja-Hippo

Well, i see that Couth_ voted for himself and some banned users. Do yall think he doesnt "respect" the awards? It looks like hes having fun. What he did is way more extreme than what I did (he actually went against rules), but he didn't get corrected or criticized for it. I dont think there should be a rule against voting for someone in a lot of categories because I think its fine :). It seems like yall feel differently...

And when we count up the votes we wont count the vote for himself or the ones for people who are banned. :| I think we've said all that needs to be said on this frankly. Six pages of votes with no issues. Like i said, it speaks for itself.

From what I remember, you were going to discount ALL of my votes, even the relevant categories. Just because I had a few joke votes in there (like Ty for GOTY). Its good that you wont do that though :).

So me voting for Ty in multiple categories was an issue to you and others. If you think something is an issue that means there should be a rule against it. This is funny to me.

Oh, and can someone answer this... Do you think Couth_ doesnt appreciate the awards or the process? People said I didnt respect it because of how i voted :(.

I see some of yall talking about Pixar movies :). I just saw Toy Story 3 with my bros the other day and it was freakin hilarious! The flashback with the clown was my favorite part LOL.

Maybe there should be a rule "dont list the same person for all categories".

I just said i would count them. I'd honestly rather not say any more on the matter. :| Six pages of votes and only one submission was problematic. Speaks for itself, doesn't it? Ninja-Hippo

I didn't see you mention that until I posted later (after you). Just because you post something in response to someone, doesn't mean that person will automatically see it when you hit submit :). Thanks man.

I guess it's really not hard to see what's going on when you see lists of votes all for the same guy.

We do this for fun every year so we can get an idea of who the community thinks deserves those things. I'm sorry but no one poster deserves the votes for all awards. Nobody is that godly of a poster. Voting like that ruins the statistics that we are gathering.

Use common sense. Really. It's not that hard.

I don't think some of you really appreciate how much work it takes to actually run these things. Show a bit of respect to the team.

Wasdie

Yeah I'm campaigning for my friend Ty! Thats obvious :).

Then this is way to serious for me. Gathering statistics? I want to have fun and i respect what is going on here! Just because I don't vote the way some people want me to doesn't mean I dont appreciate it. I really want Ty to win those categories! Maybe there should be a rule "dont list the same person for all categories". Ill say it again, I think yall are treating this way to serious and I think its showing. I like these awards though, its my first time participating. Thanks for all the hard work!

Hey Ninja! If you want to be that picky, you could go through every single post in the awards and discount votes for people who you feel dont "deserve" it. It shouldnt have gotten to this point in the first place. All I'm doing is making sure my votes get counted while having fun with it!

The way you guys are going on, its like you're treating this too seriously LOL. Also someone can have a college degree in more than one field of study. That would make them an expert in more than one category. When it comes to video games, being a hippy or manticore can make you an expert of all systems.
