So stoked for the always online requirement. A lot of people dont understand what that means for games. Essentially, it means you can have a seemingly infinite sized map for a game like for example, skyrim. Imagine your xbox constantly downloading and streaming information as you play. Not only does that give it the potential to make loading screens mid-game a thing of the past, but it also makes way for even larger, and seemless dlc add-ons.

@Sgthombre but that tablet wouldnt need upgrading, and if you could plug it into a television, you wouldnt even have a need for a gaming desktop or laptop. also it would be easier than any laptop to take with you. im thinking skyrim on an airplane, then plugging it in to my awesome tv. it has the potential to make pc gaming a major player again

@swyg all you said was a good game is better than a bad game. with the success and rise of tablet gaming i dont see how in any way this is under debate. they know what they are up against and are directly competing against tablets. with the games that have been confirmed, they have already won in my eyes.

@tigertaru look up project fiona. its a pc based tablet with controls on the sides. im interested in that one as well. pc games need more of a standard than "oh i need a different graphics card to play this game?!"

@Fursnake it is sir lol

they put a lot of thought into the tablet controller so hopefully it delivers functionality like i mentioned because i would very much enjoy a nintendo console worth putting that much down for. ive been deprived of Mario, Zelda, and Smash Bros. for a couple years and id really like a reason to pick them up again without sacrificing good third party games.

@Raxyman not only will nintendo certainly have the classics we know and love, but they also will have better third party support, and the console is already confirmed to be more powerful than the 360 or PS3.

There are already HUGE third party games confirmed so how come the hostility? This is a big step for nintendo and they are trying to appeal to a broader crowd...and succeeding so far.

Dont be so negative towards a console that hasnt been released yet, this isnt just a mere upgrade from the Wii. Its an entirely next-gen console.

@Fursnake nintendo is about innovation and trying new things. but your right, the Wii didnt deliver what was promised. However, keep in mind it was the first console of its kind.

for games like skyrim, think about how intuitive the touchpad would be for hotkeys for different spells, shouts, or even a customization option for whatever else you want to hotkey. Or possibly a realtime map you can access without opening a menu, allowing you to tap a destination and fast travel.

thats just one example.

You are wise to be skeptical though, even i am going to be in "wait and see" mode when the console comes out before making a final decision

@Fursnake

I really dont consider it gimmicky... look at the success with tablets? people enjoy touch controls. Though, as a hardcore gamer, i consider touchscreen only games on tablets annoying, but if nintendo can successfully mesh tablet controls with button controls, i see myself getting one.

with assassins creed all but confirmed for the WiiU, i have high expectations for the console and i hope it does well.

also there has been talk of skyrim on the console as well =>
