I rock the DS for aabout...5-7 hours a week. I spend some time plugging through FFXII:RW between getting home and going to sleep... maybe the odd time between classes too, when I have nothing I urgently need to do. I have a wii and a PS3 and I say the DS gets the most time logged. well... untilSmash broscomes out for the wii. Otherwise the PS3 is a close second for time logged on a console.
The two DS games that absloutely blew me away were the castlevania games. Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin. Those two are my absolute favs. Honorable mentions to Custom Robo arena and Bleach DS really surprised me with its total lack of suck. As far as 2D fighters go, I would comfortably say Bleach is the best North American release for the genre.
Rock band... and that will be it for a while. Unless one of the forth coming shooters REALLY distinguishes themselves. I WOULD buy UT3, but with haze and Turok on the horizon, who is to say what will be best? All three look terrific... and I DO want a slightly faster paced less methodical shooter than COD4 to get online with. As much as I love COD4, I just get an itch that I need something with more twitch and over the top actionto scratch it with.
Having palyed The Orange box for my friend's 360 and owning COD4 for my PS3, I will have to strongly recommend keeping COD4. COD4 is a blast to play on line. But on the other hand UT3 will likely be just insane. So it comes down to preference I think. Methodical shooting in CODvs run and gun in UT.
I could never get all the way in to the MGS stuff. I also JUST got a PS3 as my first ever sony console. I ended up picking up some of the classics, and wow, God of War is a total blast to play. The second one really keeps the ball rolling (and the blood flowing). I am really excited to see if number 3 in the series continues the trend on to the next gen.
So for me, God of War 3 over metal gear, with out the shadow of a doubt.
