How does a game with no sub fees that sold over a million copies pre-launch fail?

This game has already succeeded. Only games with subs can "fail".

2 million isn't a lot for a game like this, especially considering so many have already left. For a leech game you need a vast population to cover all the people that will never use the cash shop, doesn't have enough players and didn't sell enough either.

I feel sorry for Anet, they must be sweating about how little money they made and how they are now going to support this game for the next 6 months. They will have to revise a lot of "promises", en expansion every 12 months will become every 6 months (with less content) and the cash shop will offer more pay to win items. They will also have to heavily nerf means to make gil to try push more gem sales, oh they are already doing this.

If I still played this game I would be worried about it's future, business run if they make money. This game didn't sell enough and is sliding down the charts faster and faster, means it's selling less every day.

Not a good idea to buy into this game now really, not a good idea to buy into a failure.

This scares me, I don't want to have the game be a waste of time. I don't want to have to grind 20 hours to get something that can be bought with $10.

I'm not against buying stuff in the cash shop at all, it's just that in my country I cannot make such purchases so it becomes difficult when pay to win is implemented.

Is the above quote really true or am I being paranoid?

This is the one thing that would really put me off of GW2 for good.

Yes, 2 million copies is not an amazing number at all. Right? Derp.

He gave Dark Souls as 1.5, and Shadow of the Colossus a 2.0. Opinion is no longer valid.

Also, I agree with alot, and for the most part I use my PC 95% of the time. But, I have to say that I'm someone who hates mouse and keyboard. I mean, I like the all the extra buttons on my razor naga, and it does help alot in certain games. But I just feel like a controller is more immersive for many games. Luckily, more and more games are getting 360 controller support, so you can have the best of both worlds on PC.

Sadly though, console still has better sound most of the time (ps3 specifically). Sometimes I just force myself to deal with the horrible jaggies and framerates on console games, just so I can get the best sound possible :P I think the amount of space blurays give ps3 devs to use also heps with them not compressing the audio nearly as much.

No matter what people say about SoE these days, it's still pretty crazy just how advanced their technology was for it's time. When you look at games like Planetside and EQ2, they have features (both graphically and gameplay wise) that people would still consider "new and amazing" if seen in the MMO's of today.

Try dead space. It's longer than Half-Life 2, but shorter than games like Dragon Age, etc.

The only bad thing about stereo that I seem to find is that a lot of games coming out these days don't put much work into their 5.1 to stereo mix-down. Since the audio designers work in 5.1 most of the time (especially when it comes to console games) you will usually want to set your soundcard outpost to 5.1, and then have your soundcard mix it into "virtual surround" (or use something like the earforce DSS if you are getting an actual dolby signal from your comp). The only recent game I've seen with a dedicated "stereo output" mode you can turn on, is Batlefield 3. I wish more games would do this.

What about http://www.asus.com/Display/LCD_Monitors/VE278Q/

I've had mine for about a year now and love it. Even better if you have a displayport connection from your PC; but I just use HDMI for now.

What is the polling rate set at in the mouse control panel (that downloads with the driver)? Try setting it to the lowest, if it's at something about 125hz.
