[QUOTE="Heirren"] It's more than that IMO. Smash Bros, Pilotwings, Mario 64, Tetrisphere, Wetrix, Wave Race, Fzero, Starfox, Pokemon, Blast Corps, NFL Blitz, Wayne Gretsky, Killer Instinct, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Ocarina, Majoras.....TheKungFool

All you did was make another list of good N64 games (I agree with your selections!), which can easily be done with the PS1.....

Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, CastleVania:Symphony of the Night, Soul Reaver, Resident Evil 2, Tekken 3, Gran Turismo 2, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Intelligent Cube, Tomb Raider 2, Wipeout XL, Einhander, Suikoden II, Lunar Silver Star & Eternal Blue, Twisted Metal, Rayman etc etc.

The point that was being made was about GENRES, and the difference to me was that the N64 did certain genres extremely well (3D Platforming, 3D Adventure, FPS) but also completely ignored many genres (rpg, survival horror, shmups, 2D ANYTHING lol)
The PlayStation on the other hand, had lots to offer in ALL genres, which makes it the more well-rounded system generally speaking.

Example:

the N64 is noted for its 3D Action/Platformers, and for good reason, right? but if I had a PSX, I still had access to many choices in that genre, beit Rayman 2, Blasto, Croc, Ape Escape, Soul Reaver and such. So, maybe I didn't have Mario64, but i still still had some good options.

but what if you liked 2D action games? shmups? rpgs? survival horror? what options did you really have with the N64?

Most games you listed are good but you have better options on the N64.

Lol Rayman 2 on PS1, that was ridiculous and you know that.

Survival isn't a genre, 2D games were outdated during the late 90s. SNES is your choice if you want decent RPGs, in fact the jump to 3D ruined the genre.

okay, so now that we're all aware you have no clue what you're talking about and have some sort of sad personal vendetta against the entire PS1 fanbase, we're supposed to take you seriously?

Emerald_Warrior

You called the N64 a casual console, not on this topic but I know you did. We're supposed to take YOU seriously?

I can vouch for KungFool. He knows his stuff and I've had plenty of great conversations about retro-gaming with him. I'd easily take him more seriously than the guy that hates PS1's fanbase (seems like hating someone for what system they like is pretty freaking petty to me).

First of all there's a difference between "hate" and "dislike". So I dislike the PS1 fanbase and that's for a good reason. I just don't like arguing with PS1 fanatics, I think it's like talking against a wall. I don't mean everyone who liked the PS1 is an idiot, there are some people where you can discuss on adult level. But the average PS1 fanbase act like idiots, they bashing the N64 and Dreamcast whenever they can. Of course SNES, Genesis, N64, XBOX etc. each console has a idiotic fanbase, I just think the PS1 has the most of them. I have no one attacked personally, it's just my opinion about.

MGS and Tenchu aren't stealth games

Survival Horror isn't a genre

Shmups and other kind of 2D games weren't important during the late 90s, it was all about 3D.

I dislike the entire PS1 fanbase.

those pics are blurry in general , is this supposed to be composite or something?

Darkman2007

Lol it's RPG mod. Do you trolling or what?

Ive got a hard believing that tbh, must be your camera. and yes, Soviet Strike is in 3D, so no ,it is you that is trolling.

Well it looks like a 2D game to me. I can't detect any textures. And no I'm not trolling.

We can arguing over the whole day about tech specs and stuff but it will never end.

I think it's more important how the games actually looked on their systems.

It looks a bit blurrier as it is in reality duo compression (I'm using photobucket com), still better than dirty emulator pics.

wow, look at the huge effects the PS2 has on a PS1 game? (I'll let you guess which is the Ps1 without texture smoothing and which one is using texture smoothing)

Darkman2007

It would be more interesting if you use a 3D game for example, this game has 2D sprits instead of textures.

lol, this is a 3D game , if I remember the only sprites used in the game were some of the infantry soliders, that was about it.

excuses , excuses, now its lies too :P

No it's not 3D:P

I suggest you guys should enable texture smoothing by using ePSXe and seriously you tell me it isn't a big difference? Lol
