its a great game, but there is no way I would give it 10, im 10 hours in, and im dead bored, I havent played it at all for days. So yeah I would rate it 8.9/10 imo. That being said, ive never been a huge GTA fan.Pure_Awesome

Yeah I'm like you. I'm probably 8 hours into it with maybe another 5 hours invested in the multiplayer and I just got bored with it. I'll probably sell it soon because there is still a high resale value.

[QUOTE="StrangeMeeting"]At the end of the day, this is still a good game, it's just so shallow and not a must own. ArisShadows

I wouldnt go that far.

What StrangeMeeting said makes no sense. If it's a good game it wouldn't be shallow....

Well its not that, games can be shallow and yet be good fun. I as saying it still a worthwhile title to own, its just a bit overrated.

Call of Duty 4 to me is so incredibly shallow. It's so run and gun, and most importantly just so COD 2! But I can still find fun in it every now and again when I play it.

I must say, as much fun as I'm having playing this game, I'm extremely surprised how many reviewers gave the game a 10; it's almost as if they were so impressed by the size and detail of the city, that they just didn't care too much about the rest of the game. A strong 9? Sure. A 10? That's a stretch. And my biggest problem with giving it a 10 is that there are so many games that have come out in the last decade that could've deservedly been given a 10, and weren't.SeanBond

Amen brother! I feel that Wii Sports was grossly underrated by hardcore gamers. There has never been a game EVER! like Wii Sports, and to me that game is far more perfect thatn GTA IV will ever be.

its probably the best gta for its time. but its still super over ratedNaiKoN9293

are you kidding me? GTA 3 was obiously the best game for it's time. It completely changed the series. GTA 4 is not even close to changing the series and online play felt just so generic. Why even do it if it's not going to challege the best online multiplayer games?

I think a lot of it depend on whether you've played the last three or not. I have and don't really find anything really refreshing with GTA IV, it's just a more polished GTA and I feel that's not good enought anymore. You have to be really innovative in sequels because they can get stale very fast.

I just stared a poll on another thread so check it out. We need some numbers to know how people are really feeling instead of everybody being just arguing with each other.

Enough with the review gripe and conspiracies. Do you think that GTA IV was overrated?

It easily has the best story out of the previous GTA games. The combat and vehicles are way better. The city has more life to it.

All in all it is still the best GTA game. A perfect 10. No.

The best game this gen. Hell Yeah.

Honestly I think the character CJ and story of San Andreas was better than in part IV. This is left to your own opinion though.

Surely techinically this the most polished GTA, I mean it's next gen so that's a big duh. It just doesn't hold a candle to its predessors in terms of impact. I was blown away with GTA 3 and loved the others. This one just seems like more of the same with some nicer graphics and few more extras. It certainly isn't as fun as the others.

On best game this gen, hell no! Bioshock, Portal, and even Halo 3 with all the new stuff it added(four player co-op, saved films, forge, and the best online matchmaking ever!) are all far superior.

I can see a scenario where this happens. Maybe it did happen but I can careless if they paid people to give it perfect scores or not. That certainly didn't help me in buying the game. I really don't care at all about scores. waynehead895

That's good for you buddy, but personally I don't have time to play every game produced. Having a limited time for video games I like to trust game critics with what I purchase, especially when games cost around 60 dollars, and many of us are complaining that these gaming sites and critics aren't being totally objective and looking out for us the consumer, but more possibly for their advertising revenues. There is no proof of foul play, still something certainly smells fishy.
