Remember, this is a story in which you exist in -- not control -- so you're not going to be able to have a drastic impact on the events that unfold.
Complete nonsense. Your actions shape the events, and have an impact on how you play throughout the game--regarding side quests or the characters involved. Nevermind the lengths BioWare went to tie up loose ends throughout the Mass Effect 3 singleplayer from previous character interactions from both Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 2. To take all of that and piss it away at the end is a travesty. I especially love how one of my squad mates who fought at my side at the end somehow made it onto the Normandy (even though everyone around me was vaporized) and then was stranded you know where. Does that make even a lick of sense? No. Perhaps it was voodoo magic, or blatant stupidity.

@donebythebook Yes, you can demand such--or updates to the game, or patches. Whether or not they listen depends on how loud your bark is, and how much weight you can throw around.

@Shaun373 Checkmate. I remember reading some of the PR statements regarding the ending--just saying BioWare "didn't deliver" on their promises is like saying Peter Molyneux never overhypes his games. Doesn't even scratch the surface.

They don't need to change the ending persay, merely add narrative to the end detailing how the end unraveled--the way BioWare handled the ending was poor at best. The plotholes, and the lack of tied loose ends really brought the ending to a disappointment that I haven't seen in an ending in years. The ending effectively made all your decisions that one has made in all three games effectively moot which made me thinnk what a waste of time everything was. A mashup like what New Vegas did at its end would have been perfect. Mass Effect 3's ending was just abrupt, and frankly, ridiculous.

@Bruno-K It's not about a happy ending, it's about an ending that makes goddamn sense in the ME universe. The ending basically made all your choices in your many hours of play through all the games effectively irrelevant. Mindnumbingly ridiculous.

This has to be one of the worst articles Gamespot has written in a longtime. I surely hope it's a joke.

Mass Effect 3 is an amazing experience... save for the illogical and abrupt ending, of course.

"I shouldn't have to spend nearly $100 more to find out fundamental details that directly impact my experience of Commander Shepard and his merry band, especially when a surprising amount of that content isn't even any good. " - Bingo. Hit the nail on the head.

@GamerOuTLaWz There's a wide variety of games that you can choose from--if a developer isn't suiting your tastes, move on, find something else.

Some people take gaming way too seriously.
