Money talks. DLC sales so we keep seeing more and more of it. I don't mind DLC. I love getting it all in the eventual Complete Edition. I'm skipping Evolve completely. As for the Hitman reboot, just another move to skip. More money in my pocket to spend on something I find a gratifying experience rather wasting on a bastardization of game franchise.
Release dates? Game delays? None of it matters to me as a gamer at this point. If a developer can hit a release date, then I just as well play something else that is out.
I was born into console gaming with my first experiences being on the NES, the Sega Genesis and the SNES. It wasn't until I bought my first computer for $999, that my conversion to PC gaming began. Since then, the PC has been my preferred method of gaming.
@alioli @billzihang For the record, Halo and Halo 2 were both released on PC. Furthermore, a PC enthusiast's rig would EASILY run any game in the Halo series released on Xbox 360.
Since the Xbox One's hardware configuration is known, my personal rig is crushing it and would EASILY run the first Halo game released for the Xbox One at 1080p and 60 frames per second.
Marketing is necessary in the competitive Triple A space. The only difference between when I was growing up and now is the immediacy of available information. Now I can get comments within minutes instead of monthly in a space-limited magazine.
@Hobbes444 Right, Origin is nothing but a wanna be Steam. Too bad the real name behind Origin is EA. Their poor reputation follows and harms any hope for Origin.
@rawkstar007 My point is that they are not the ONLY company that has created something unique. While it true that Nintendo is a big reason the home console market survived and flourished, how does that make them worthy of a Nintendo genre as Miyamoto has suggested?
I love Miyamoto games as much as next Nintendo fan; however, the legendary game designer speaks foolishly here.
I agree with his statement that it doesn't matter how much you pay as long as you feel you got value. That is exactly the reason I don't pay $60 for new EA games! When I pay $20-$30, I feel like I got value.
Some games EA games offer little value at $20, e.g., NBA Live 14.
"I really think there needs to be a Nintendo genre, that’s almost its own entity" - Shigeru Miyamoto Really? As if they are the only company who has ever created something unique in the gaming world.
