@fester420 That's interesting, I do love Fez, Bastion, Minecraft and Super Meat Boy but I will always play AAA titles. Have you played any RPGs, they'll give you at least a week time. Strategy games are also good, I've played Starcraft for a decade, the first one (not counting SCII).
@FlawlessGoBot I get ya and I normally don't even think about CoD when I say shooters as a whole. Activision is driving CoD into the ground like they did with Guitar Hero. Yeah also Hack and Slash has been around for years and the same gameplay mechanic has been used as much as shooters imo but everyone laps up Diablo 3 lol.
@dlCHIEF58 I get what you are saying but it wasn't because the genre term wasn't known then. Deus Ex was an action role playing game where with the multiple paths and inventory management DE focused more on the role playing side.
@Smokescreened84 Wondering if you've played Bulletstorm or Vanquish? As those are the two examples I thought of being the least boring shooters. They also play on the stereotypical image and mannerisms.
I hate this guy, I really do. "How many first person shooters can we create per year?" Ah first person shooters, or third person shooters for that matter, are fun to play and not boring. Well you know nothing has been innovative with shooters in the past few years like Borderlands (created subgenre RPS), Doom3/Bioshock (story through discovered audio files/RPG elements and abilities), Half Life 2 (keeping action within the game, pacing), Gears of War (pacing, cover based combat anyone) and CoDMW (modernizing the CoD formula with multiple perspective story lines). This guy is a hypocrite and has way too much freedom in the gaming press. Show me something like what Epic Games, Valve, 2K Games, id Software, and Infinity Ward (the late IW) have proved as being innovative developers.
