@davillain-: Is Queen's Gate playable if a person doesn't read any Japanese?

The games I think every PSP owner should play:

  • Valkyria Chronicles II (best game ever made :D )
  • Valkyria Chronicles III
  • Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
  • Gods Eater Burst
  • Persona 3 Portable
  • Danganronpa
  • Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
  • Unchained Blades
  • Rock Band Unplugged

If you're looking for obscure games:

  • Class of Heroes 2
  • NeoGeo Heroes: Ultimate Shooting
  • End of Aspiration - I've been playing this these days and although it's a simple RPG that's a port of a smartphone game, I love it.

If you can import Japanese games, I'll recommend a couple that are playable even if you don't know Japanese:

  • Hatsune Miku: Project Diva series (awesome rhythm games)
  • Ikkitousen Xross Impact (very fan service-y)
  • Soreyuke! Burunyanman Portable (side-scrolling bullet hell shooter - EXTREMELY fan service-y)

I dunno, I really like the stories of almost all Japanese games I've played, the ones whose stories I didn't like usually weren't that good in other departments either. What's wrong with cadets saving their country from revolutionary soldiers, high school students saving the world from Shadows or being forced to take part in an academic coliseum? I think what the OP means is that he doesn't like fantasy/unrealistic settings. And fantasy doesn't mean having Fantasy in the title.

I haven't seen Western video games have better stories though. 'Kill everyone who isn't American', 'infiltrate this terrorist base and it will have something that will personally affect the protagonist', 'this place has scary monsters because the protagonist is actually insane,' etc. Maybe I'm biased because I love Japanese games, but I think Japanese characters are more endearing than Western ones (who seem to always be just sweaty muscular guys and hard-fast girls - I'm not saying Japanese characters aren't sexualized but at least they're not made to look realistic most of the time).

I think it's more important for a story to be enjoyable than to be realistic.

I initially felt the controls in RE4 were slightly box-like after a long time playing Resident Evil Revelations. However, after a while I got into my old groove again and was comfortable with them, and I still think RE4 is the best Resident Evil game. I don't have problems revisiting games so much, if they're games I played a lot back then, because I'm so used to them I'm still as good even after years.

That doesn't mean I don't have problems with old-gen games though. Sometimes I don't enjoy a PS1 or Genesis game that I'm playing now but didn't grow up with because the technical limitations and less fluid controls make me impatient, and with no childhood affinity for them I enjoy them less. But lots of times I'm lucky and do enjoy them.

@rubber-chicken: Yeah. That really sucks. For me, I registered a PIN for Pokemon OR and it showed up in the products I've registered, but I got no survey or coins even after waiting for three days. I emailed them about it this morning. Their site is always glitchy during even slightly heavy-traffic times. I hope the new one is better.

I don't get why emailing the Flipnote Studio code to members is such trouble for them. They've done it with demo codes before easily enough. And if they're still generating the codes, then that's unprofessional. They could have prepared in advance, y'know?

The 'Game of Thrones' description ruined it for me if the live-action-ness didn't already. But it's still in rumour mode as far as I know.

Yeah. But what's 20 days or even another month when some of us have been waiting for four years? *anime tears* :P

Handhelds: Yes, they have a very good chance.

Home Consoles: After the Wii U - doubtful.

For me it's probably Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. I could have picked Smash Bros. 3D easily, but I enjoyed Shantae a lot more - even if it's an eShop game.
