@makchady: Yeah Prisoners is way better than the Metacritic rating. I'd give Arrival a solid 8. Dune and Bladerunner are for me 9's upon viewing, 10s in memory. His slow burn story telling style isn't for everyone but I love how he allows time to soak in his environments by having these long lead-ins with characters walking out of space ships and the like. No one creates better sci-fi worlds visually in my opinion and it's smart of him to allow the viewer to get immersed the worlds that he's created.
@illegal_peanut: It's true that it's better to use simpler language most of the time because you can get your point across just fine that way and you don't end up talking above peoples' heads. It's only when I have to be specific that I'd use more precise language. You, me, the author are probably in agreement here. Notice that the word homogeneity only appears at the end of the articles where there are bullet points. It's a pretty safe bet that the author used this word here due to space constraints considering the way the rest of the article was written.
