[QUOTE="btk2k2"][QUOTE="StormyJoe"]Really? Then you would know that if devs get the XB1 version to 30FPS, and the FPS is locked at 30FPS, then the PS4 version isn't going to look any better.

You cows are so hung up about this "performance advantage", as if it is really going to make some monumental difference in graphics - you are all going to be in for a big disappointment.

StormyJoe

Then the dev can release it like that on both platforms and it will maintain parity, the dev could turn up a few settings on the PS4 while still maintaining the 30 FPS minimum or, if the X1 does drop frames the PS4 will not have those frame drops leading to a better gaming experience. It is really simple, the PS4 is flat out, no arguing, no quibbling more powerful. The best to expect from the X1 is parity, nothing more, it will never, ever exceed the PS4 in multi platform games.

Yes. They are going to waste their time to make the PS4 version look better. Are you fricken kidding me? Are you that much of a fanboy to think that will happen? Really?

If the PS4 version runs at 1080p, 30 FPS with no optimization, they'll release it like that.

If the Xbox ONE version runs at 900p, 20 FPS, devs aren't going to waste time optimizing for an installbase that's 3x lower than the PS4's, not to mention the fact that the installbase is 99% soccer moms and casuals who probably won't even buy the game.

The only multiplat game that might have graphical parity is CoD: Ghosts, considering the $$$ Microsoft gave Activision. BF4 has more than twice as many preorders on the PS4 than on the Xbox ONE. Every multiplat has preorder numbers that are 2x as many on the PS4. And mind you, this is in the US, which is Xbox land. The gap is going to be bigger on an international level. Developers know that PS4 gamers know the PS4 is stronger than the Xbox ONE. Developers also know that the PS4 installbase will be magnitudes higher than the Xbox ONE. It makes no sense to piss off the vast majority of gamers and core gamers to please casual gamers. The Xbone has no core gamers.

I don't give a damn what your raw performance links say. Any developer should be able to get a game to run at 30 FPS on XB1 hardware. You are speculating that there are going to be some super-graphics games in the next few years that are going to make the XB1 seem gimped, and show that 5-15 frame rate advantage that the XB1 has. I don't believe it - there is no reason in 5 years the XB1 will not be able to hit 30FPS on any game; particularly multiplats that will be on the PCs.

Will there be some games that at some times dip below 30FPS in a few years? Probably - there are ones now. But your conclusion that PS4 games will run at 30FPS at full resolution while XB1 games will not be able to is moo-cow bullshit. Mostlikely, the game will run at 30FPS on both, with the XB1 version meeting it's target and the PS4 version being locked.

StormyJoe

Sure you don't believe it you are an on denial lemming.

Those link don'talk about raw power numbers you blind biased fanboy they talk about actual benchmarks done that is what you get when you buy those period, that is actual performance the raw one is the one on specs.

I didn't say "I don't believe them" I said "I don't give a damn about them". You want to believe that the PS4 will be able to hit 30FPS and the XB1 will not; because you are a cow and you want the superior verison to be on the PS4.

I am a realist - the XB1 will hit 30FPS, and while the PS4 will be capable of 5-15 more, those multi-plat games will be locked at 30FPS, negating the advantage for the PS4 (on multi-plat games). Well see who is right - but I know it will be me. Sorry.

It makes no business sense to keep the games at parity. The PS4's installase will be multiple times higher than the Xbone's. You think core gamers, the ones who actually buy the games and are going for the PS4 as their main console next gen, aren't going to boycott the companies if they find out they gimped the PS4's version? Publishers and devs aren't stupid.

That's not how locking works. You lock the game at 30FPS, that means that you do not let it go over 30FPS. So, if the XB1 hits 30 FPS, and the PS4 could hit 40, it won't matter because the game would be locked at 30 FPS. You would not run a game at 40 FPS, the next interval is 60FPS.

Tormentos is saying that XB1 games will run at 20 FPS, and I say he is full of crap. He has no proof, and is just hoping that is the case so that the PS4 will show a performace advantage. If I am right, the raw performance numbers won't mean anything because those extra frames per second the PS4 is capable of won't be utilized because the game will be locked at 30FPS.

StormyJoe

No. What they'll do is add in more effects on the PS4 to get it down to a stable 30 FPS.

For the Xbox ONE, devs will lower resolution and graphical effects to get it to 25-30 FPS.

LOL! No they won't - one of the main goals of multi-plat games is to have parity between the versions. The games will be the same, both locked at 30FPS.

Xbox ONE is struggling to run games at 1080p. You think devs are going to gimp the PS4's resolution so that they can satisfy an installbase that's probably going to be 3x smaller than the PS4's?

Devs are going to cater to the crowd with the largest installbase. Xbone is an afterthought, especially with its measly marketshare.

Well, if all games were locked at 30FPS minimum this gen then I could agree but since a lot of games dip into the low to mid 20's it stands to reason the same will happen with the upcoming consoles in several years time, the devs will push the limit like they always and the X1 has a lower limit than the PS4 does so there will be a discrepancy.

Has a 97 on meta. Might not be as good as IV, but should still be awesome. Can't wait for the inevitable PS4 version.

I think a lot of xboners are misunderstanding what console optimization really is.

Devs don't code straight for the console unless it's a first party dev. Multiplat devs code for the PC in mind. They "optimize" by turning off features, locking at 30 FPS and toning down the graphics. There's no secret code that devs write that maximize performance at 30 FPS. There's no incentive. If what Shensolidus said is true about the eSRAM, the differences could end up pretty big in the first year or two.
