Thought it was a weird choice to even implement 3rd person in the first place. I mean it isn't bad, but it feels like just a gimmick mode.

We'll get a turn based game but not a sequel to Empire at War and EAW:FoC...

Seriously, at some point it needs to be made. EAW is still very popular these days despite its age, especially with its modding community making it feel almost modern. It is just so held back by things that cannot be changed like pathfinding, engine limits, and the stability of the game. A new EAW would have everyone who loved EAW pretty much snatch that up in a heartbeat (Hell I would even expect massive pre-orders). A facelift, better performance (Particularly stability), fleshed out land battles, better maps, better pathfinding (Huge), better AI, and a modern UI is all that needs to be done to make it a proper sequel to me (Not that I don't want more).

Maybe with Homeworld 3 coming out next year some developer/publisher will realize that it is worth creating another Star Wars RTS with a heavy space battle focus.

"rewriting and updating"

This throws me off a bit. Does this mean that the entirety is getting rewritten or elements are being changed?

We really just need more clarification and footage on what all it could be.

@clubhouse: I wouldn't compare the Resistance to an actual military too much.

The Resistance is more of a paramilitary organization with limited members. The New Republic Defense Force would probably not tolerate it in the same way (Probably some exceptions of course). Albeit The New Republic Defense Force is closer to how the Republic was post Ruusan Reformation and pre-Clone Wars, but still much larger and stronger compared to the Judicial forces or the Resistance. More members, more equipment, stronger command structure, and funding allow them to promote the "best" candidates.

The Resistance can't be picky.

Edit: I definitely agree with you on such a person being put in a command role though.

Proud of the visual side of it maybe, but how can you be proud of the story and characters? It took away attention from some of the more promising characters or failed to develop their character even further.

Finn's whole story in that was pretty much that he likes Rose and wasted a lot of time to free some space horses. Poe's story was no better as it was just him getting in trouble and then being left in the dark and told to trust Holdo in a life or death situation. Rey just kept being Rey, potential was there but her character left a lot to be desired. Kylo was interesting and had room to grow as well, but I think his rise to power was a bit premature and didn't try to separate him from just being a copycat Vader. Hux was a disappointing antagonist especially since he was the son of one of the more prominent Imperials who fled to the Unknown Regions.

There was so much that needed to be covered that wasn't and forced the canon EU to fill in major portions of what is actually happening. The whole movie felt like filler in comparison with a few major events happening. The whole thing could have been covered in just a few chapters of a book.

Legends EU wasn't perfect and definitely had some bad such as Dark Empire (Which would have been a more interesting Palpatine revival story which is a sad thought), but they could have ripped almost any novel and it would have been better.

The only things I'll really give it credit for is it tried to make its own story and setup for the final movie (Which Abrams just said nah, I don't care what happened in episode 8) as well as the visuals. Too much potential was squandered, pointless or stupid scenes (I mean really, planetary bombers against a single dreadnaught? Pretty much threw away lives for no gain).

It is what it is I guess. But Star Wars needs to move away from this chapter of Star Wars. Hopefully we'll see more movies based on The Old Republic Era (Or anything in-between the Prequel trilogy), or past the Sequel trilogy era, or more A Star Wars Story. Maybe Johnson can do something well with his new trilogy if he is both the creator and sole lead director for it (Don't know who thought it was a good idea to have multiple directors for a trilogy. Especially when they have different visions for it).

@phili878: I never played the original Half Life. Recently been playing Black Mesa to fill in the gaps as I'm falling in love with the series (Started out with HL2 when it came out), but is the original better story wise compared to Black Mesa? Been hearing some things were redesigned, but not sure how much.

Trying to get the best experience with it while not compromising the lore.

@judahxii: Possibly because Adventures despite being generally well liked, it didn't fit in with the series at first.

It was originally never intended to be a Star Fox game. We went from a Diddy Kong character, to Krystal, and then to Fox as the main playable character by the time it was released. Quite honestly even looking back on it myself it feels strange that it is a Star Fox entry. Though I liked how it eventually fit into the universe, I feel like it might have been better on its own with Krystal as the main playable character and its own story.

Either way it was a fantastic game in my opinion. I invested so many hours into it.

Edit: Jeez I just realized this comment was three months old. Gamespot really loves to bump their own articles.

This may be a very controversial one, but probably one of my favorite games on it was Star Fox: Adventures. Really enjoyed that game. Star Fox: Adventures, Melee, Rogue Squadron 2/3, Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, and some others my memory fails me on are some of the best for me.
