It actually kinda is. The temperature in North America is largely dependent on the arctic jet stream -- if you're south of it you get warm gulf air, if you're north you get cold arctic air -- and to make a long story short the warming arctic has been pushing the jetstream into more southernly latitudes. Hence why Toronto is cold as balls right now:

So you pay $100 extra for the apple at the back of the inferior laptop and about 3 pounds of less weight. That's not even taking into account how much more money it would take to bring the Air into the same specs as the MSI. You'd have to pay a pretty penny to the "Geniuses".

If people want to buy the Airs that's fine, but I know they're not doing it for the laptop's power or price/performance ratio. I think every Apple buyers knows that when they buy an Apple product, they do pay extra for the branding. At least I hope they do.

3 pounds is nothing to sneeze at, and on top of that the MSI gets a grand total of ~2 hours of battery life. To call it a laptop is borderline disingenous.

I think what people have to understand about the Apple Tax is it's a question of attention to detail -- keyboard and touchpad quality, the materials used, the screen quality beyond just pixel count, overall reliability, etc. Some people may not value those features, but it doesn't make them a rip-off, either.

Oh my god.  You really are brainwashed.  Are there no skeptics in OT.  Okay, first off, a rise in temperature brings about a rise in CO2 levels, not the other way around.  Second, CO2 is PLANT FOOD.  It's PROVEN that a simple doubling of the CO2 content in earths atmosphere would double plant productivity, fertility, and resistance to drought.  And that would mean more oxygen.  The air would be HEALTHIER to breathe.  And all the ice that melted would make sea level rise, but it would take a very long time.  Like over 2,000 years long.  It would be like drowning in a pool being filled with an eyedropper.  The extra water would mean more is available for precipitation, making the sahara green, and the Yukon a temperate forest with redwoods.  Am I going to fast for you?  Look it up.  When mammals evolved(we are mammals, in case you didn't know), the CO2 level was 3,000ppm.  Today it is barely 400ppm.  It was a paradise back then, it says so in about every single book on evolution that is peer reviewed.  It's a widely accepted fact.  Now do you see the irony?  There is so much more I could say, but I've said it a million times, so I'm done here.  I'll be back in the next "global warming/alarmist theory to scare everyones pants off" thread.

No duh, this is fake. Licensing BD is all standardized and straightforward -- you fill out a one-page application and pay the licensing fee ($30,000 for MS, based on a quick look at the BD license office's website). Assuming there was even a problem in the first place (and that's a big assumption, considering the source for this rumour is the Italian equivalent of a Gamestop employee), I think a multi-billion dollar corporation like MS can sort that out between now and November.

Maybe not. Between the success of ARM and the decline in PC sales Intel would have a relatively compelling argument that there's enough competition in the market and buying AMD wouldn't change anything, particularly with AMD already being largely irrelevant on the CPU side and arguably in a death spiral towards bankruptcy anyway.

That said, this seems like a pretty dumb rumour. The only reason for Intel to buy AMD is to get the GPU side of the business, and with Intel finally starting to deliver on their own GPU development there probably isn't all that much value in buying AMD. 

Picked up Blood Dragon, will hold out for Fez getting Hundled. The May game I'm most interested in at the moment is actually Sid Meier's Ace Patrol on iOS. Turn-based WW1 flying/strategy thing actually developed by Sid and going for $0.99 (for the first campaign, anyway)? Yes plase.
