So you pay $100 extra for the apple at the back of the inferior laptop and about 3 pounds of less weight. That's not even taking into account how much more money it would take to bring the Air into the same specs as the MSI. You'd have to pay a pretty penny to the "Geniuses".
If people want to buy the Airs that's fine, but I know they're not doing it for the laptop's power or price/performance ratio. I think every Apple buyers knows that when they buy an Apple product, they do pay extra for the branding. At least I hope they do.

3 pounds is nothing to sneeze at, and on top of that the MSI gets a grand total of ~2 hours of battery life. To call it a laptop is borderline disingenous.
I think what people have to understand about the Apple Tax is it's a question of attention to detail -- keyboard and touchpad quality, the materials used, the screen quality beyond just pixel count, overall reliability, etc. Some people may not value those features, but it doesn't make them a rip-off, either.
