@Daian: I'm sure that with the critical acclaim of this first iteration, Outer Worlds 2 is certain to follow with a much greater budget. We will likely see a more Witcheresque project by Obsidian in the future.

@DDSDevilDog: Exclusives play to the strength of corporations, but they may also serve to instill a sense of pride in the gamer who has chosen to give allegiance to a particular console or company. Exclusives also serve to fuel rivalry and keep companies competing. This demands deeper inspiration and more soulful projects, and that could lead to more satisfying products which results in more satisfied gamers. So I think there's a definite benefit to having exclusives around, but I'm sure you can make a case for why they're potentially detrimental as well. I think it all just comes down to personal opinion.

@PETERAKO: I mean, you can look at it like that, but they're really just continuing what they first began in more modern fashion. The fact that Bethesda has dropped the ball is moreso their own fault. Even if 4 was more impactful and 76 was not the mess it is, I'm sure Outer Worlds was forthcoming regardless.

Actually, there's QUITE a difference between Sergio Leone's westerns and American westerns.

@Atzenkiller: There are many games to play out there, and anyone who has looked into this issue should come away realizing that Blizzard does not care for its fanbase in the least. Of course, we know that money is proverbial 'god' in the entertainment business, but many companies out there at least keep up a semblance of care for their respective fandoms. Here it is not the case. If people have seen through Blizzard's glass heart but continue to pay them money in utter apathy and nonchalance then they have been zombified and there's no remedial hope for them. My advice to anyone bothered by this whole scandal, or who has been keeping up with the issue at all, is to not give Blizzard a cent. Forget protests, just drop them like a rock and play for a better company. It might not change anything in the long run since they're now appealing to the Chinese market (which is why they push mobile), but for the individual here in the West - their dignity will remain intact if nothing else.

@Atzenkiller: What does protest have to do with disinterest? Obviously people are no longer enchanted with Blizzard. They might want to like their games, but the signs are written on the wall -- they're not changing. In fact, they're doubling down. Instead of gathering for protests and screaming for 2-5 hours or however long they plan to be out there, it would be much more effective to just stop purchasing their products. Whether it's out of disinterest, spite, desperation, or whatever word you want to fit in there, it doesn't matter. The key to all of this is to "protest with your wallets" and hit them in the money bag. That's what's going to make a difference. That's going to cause Blizzard to at least stop and reassess their actions. And maybe it won't change anything, but at least Blizzard will learn a lesson about crossing their own just to appease a foreign market... and fans won't have to continue selling their souls to an underhanded snakish company.

Protest with your wallets. The greatest detriment to any business is not activism but genuine disinterest.
