Is because they'd rather you buy PS3 titles for the system, instead of playing older PS1, or PS2 titles. Of course it's seems to be a whole different ball game over in Japan where I guess the Japanese PS3 owners have alot more PS1 games do play on there PS3's, as compared to U.S. PS3 owners.The_Pig_Hostage
I don't think people are going to pass up PS3 games in favor of PS1 downloads. And all the old games available for download on the Wii and 360 services haven't stopped people from buying new games for those systems...
Hey just pointing out what Sony's logic might be.
Yeah but that would be pretty lousy logic. I'm sure they have a reason (copyright issues, maybe?), but it can't be that
I wouldn't be so quick to rule out copyright issues. Sometimes game studios are bought out by other studios. Which forces you to have to get permission from that new owner. If you want to use there product. On paper it might not seem like that would be a big issue, but if the new owner, is more stubborn with giving you permission to use there game, as compared to the old owner. That's when problems might come up. You see it was probably alot easier for Sony to get alot of support from game studios back in the PS1, and PS2 day's because they dominated the console market then. That's not the case so far with the PS3. Heck I want be surprised if some of the older PS1 game makers are trying to make deals with Nintendo to move there previously PS1 exclusive title over to the virtual console on the Wii since the Wii is doing so insanely well.
Yeah, I wasn't ruling out copyright issues - that seems fairly likely to be the issue (or part of it). I was ruling out the idea of Sony holding back PS1 games because they don't want to distract gamers from PS3 games.
I guess we just misunderstood each other, no biggie though. You seem like pretty level headed guy which is a great thing, because level headed people is something that alot of game forums severly lack. The amount of people who have bought into this whole BS console war nonsense, is beyond rediculous. I honestly think that if you got some of these harcore fanboys in one room, they'd probably start physically beating one another up. Why some people get so hot and bothered over something as trivial as agame console, something that's meant to have fun with is just stupid.
If I'm not mistaken the whole Halo Killer term wasn't even something that someone from Sony even said in regards to Killzone 1, or the upcoming Killzone 2. It was something that either certain gamers, or game journalists said. It amazes me how quick some people are to try to put the PS3 in a bad light.

[QUOTE="bigLLL"]gawd I hate to see such a crap console doing so well (Wii) what are sony and microsoft gonna do next console? same power just witha Wii mote?bloody little kids and there parents.ryank285
What's sad is sony and microsoft could potentially follow suit with their next console, which would be focusing on family oriented gaming over games that appeal to hardcore fans.Unfortunately, money talks...
You need balance it's ok if one console goes the family friendly route, that appeals to the casual market more than it does the hardcore. If all 3 console makers went that route do yourealize how boring that would be. You'd see less innovation if that were to happen. I personally don't see Sony doing that though, they've always pushed technology with whatever product they release. I don't see them changing that philosophy just to try to hope to duplicate the Wii's success. Yeah you might see more casual games, along with some mini games, but no where near the point of putting so much focus on the casual market that there actually pissing off the hardcore crowd like Nintendo seems to be doing with the Wii route now.

[QUOTE="Shadowhawk2606"][QUOTE="Azulrosa"][QUOTE="Shadowhawk2606"]A POS waiting to happen, can you be even more negative. Why so much hostility towards gorilla, did they harm you in some way.Azulrosa
yeah, they harmed my pocketbook. I bought killzone 1. It was a piece of trash. Nothing at all compared to the screens and hype that preceded it. I won't hold my breath.
That's your opinion, there are obviously people out there that enjoyed the first game. I just think spewing S bombs at a freakin video game, like it physically harmed you in some way is just sad. It's a video game, it's nothing to get so serious about. I understand your cautiousness with Killzone 2, but can you atleast give gorilla the benefit of the doubt. They do after-all seem to have the entire Sony games division pretty much backing them this time around. Plus believe it or not good game developers are actually more than capable of learning from there past-mistakes.
What is this gorillas third or fourth game, how can yoube so harsh on a studio that hasn't made many games. To many people are spoiled with the handful of studios that are fortunate enough to have a big hit title right out of the gate. Having a big hit right out of the gate is something that very rarely happens. Most devs have to get there feet wet first. Which usually means having there first few titles not be all that good. If the studio was around for say 10 years or so then yeah I might share your opinion, but they haven't. It's funny with you pretty much expecting Killzone 2 to be a bad game. What's the benifit of being so pessimistic.
no. there are many studios (such as insomniac) that have sony's backing. It doesn't mean that they all churn out wonderful games. I'm not saying it will be trash. I'm just expecting that it will be. They don't exactly have the track record that the other big sony studios do. If it is a masterpiece I will gladly buy it. Until then I think my investment money is better spent on a boat dealership in death valley.
