This surprising news comes from IGN's Matt Casamassina when recently said this,

"It's a real game, I played it a little while ago," said Casamassina on the Wii-k in review podcast. "A lot of people just don't believe that but we're going to lay down some ownage next week or soon afterward by showing you guys that it is a real game. So, you guys are about to be owned, all you naysayers."

Rare released Diddy Kong Racing DS February 2007 so I guess this isn't as far fetched as it seems.

My first GC game was Super Smash Bros. Melee on the day it hit stores. I bought my GC on launch day but had no game to play because i didnt want to buy any of the launch titles (i rented all of them). Once i had Smash Bros. Melee, just about every teenager and friend and friend of friend came to my house just to play it for several months. I still play it regularly today with my friends, which shows how much replayablility it has (5 years and still playing the same game? That says something).linkdude777
