Regarding the MIDI vs orchestrated for music transitions, I believe it was Shadow of the Colossus that used an orchestrated sountrack and managed to pull of the transitions fairly well. And considering the pure awesome that was the orchestration of the Mario Galaxy soundtrack, I'd really like to see how they manage the music for the new Zelda. It seems Koji Kondo can make something marvelous no matter what resources he has on hand.

Ahhh, I was truly mistaken with MM, good one for catching my fault. However, Wind Waker is another matter and one that is actually a little more complicated. Space World 2000 had a showing of the tech demo, one of Link and Ganondorf fighting. Nintendo never said this was not in the works or that it was not for a game. They, very intelligently, just kept mum about the whole thing until the next year when they showed gameplay of WW. So I think this one is a toss up. So We have Ocarina and TP taking a while and MM on time. WW being a toss up. That's still not a good record. Remember as well, I did say console Zelda's in my first post. :)Ibacai

I'll fight this. :)

Ocarina of Time came out over ten years ago; that's ancient history in the gaming world and can't really be used as a measuring stick for Nintendo's marketing policies anymore. Not to mention that it was the first 3D Zelda game. They were reinventing the wheel with that one and ended up with what many consider to be the greatest game of all time, so its very long development cycle was evident in the final product.

Twilight Princess is also a special circumstance in my opinion, because as much as Nintendo may say that it's not the case, I beleive they delayed it so it could be a launch game for the Wii. Some like 75% of people that bought a Wii also bought TP in those few weeks after launch IIRC, so it was a wise decision on their part.

I disagree with the Spaceworld demo for gamecube being the reveal for Wind Waker. They were just demonstrating how their characters could look with the power of the Gamecube behind them. I mean they even showed Perfect Dark in that demo, and we all know how that turned out. But the real indidcation is the "Mario 128" portion of the demo. It showed a bunch of Marios on a sperical world, and Miyamoto has said that was where the idea for Mario Galaxy originally started, but that doesn't mean Mario Galaxy was announced right then, we got Mario Sunshine a few years later. Speaking of Mario Galaxy, being Shiggy's latest hardcore pet project, I think that it's announcement in 2006 and subsequent release in 2007 is the best indicator of how long the public has to wait for a Nintendo game.

All that being said, I actually don't think that Zelda Wii will come out in 2010, because I don't really consider this to be a proper announcement. When we get our first real trailer is the official debut of the game imo, and we have yet to see that. Sure I'd like Zelda sooner rather than later, but Nintendo would be releasing a new Mario, Metroid, and Zelda all around the same time, basically smothering their own game launches. I don't think they'd do that. They didn't let that happen when Metriod Prime, Mario Sunshine, and Wind Waker were coming out, as those games had three months of padding between them, and I don't think it'll happen now.

Drew, I think you're looking at it upside down. She looks more like a closed master sword blade down(Wind wakershowed a closed MS).

Redonkulous_D

Considering how sharp and pointy her head is, it'd be kinda painful to hold it that way. Her legs aren't looking too sharp either, the pattern on her stockings looks more like the texture along the hilt.

Bye Bye Master sword. :Pjakehouston88

I doubt it. The girl's design doesn't just look like any sword, it looks like the master sword. The jewel on her chest, the shape of her cape, and the base of her skirt all match the design of the master sword. It makes sense really, since they've covered the creation myths and the beginning of the triforce and how ganon broke it apart and all that jazz. But we know nothing of how the master sword came to be, it was just always there, even in the first in the story, OoT. It's about time we learned something about the legendary weapon.

I also agree with Luigi_Vincetana that he looks more like OoT Link than TP Link, but more "arty".

Wow, it's like everyone hates Goemon because they love Zelda. I loved Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for the N64, it was one of my favorite games on the console. I remember seeing some screenshots for a Mystical Ninja for the DS a while back, but the game never made it over to America. It seems Konami has decided to keep it in Japan and doesn't have any intention of reviving it over here any time soon. Which is really too bad, the sequel on the N64 was a side scroller, and the SNES version was maliciously difficult, so I never really enjoyed any other than Mystical Ninja. But I always loved the ability to change your playable character on the fly, and the unique sense of humor the game had. Not to mention the traditional Japanese meets synth soundtrack was nothing short of awesome.

Of course, I also consider Ocarina of Time to be the greatest game ever made, so I'm not willing to make the trade.:P

I was under the impression that Beautuful Katamari might not be coming to the Wii. The latest press anouncement only mentions PS3 and 360. :(

Tales of Symphonia, Skies of Arcadia, and the Baten Kaitos games are good RPG offerings, and pretty much anything from Nintendo (Mario, Metriod, Zelda) is usually worth your money.

Eternal Darkness and Ikaruga are some excellent oft overlooked games, and the Paper Mario sequel is one of the best games of last generation. If you were to buy only one game, I would reccomend that one.

The PS3 is overpriced... for a console. It may be underpriced for a Blueray player, but few people would even know bluray even exists if not for the PS3. So, basically, you're financing Sony's bid in the format-wars. Its graphics are still flat out beautiful, but what's the point if the gameplay can't hold your interest? If a game comes out that seems to be worth $600, then maybe I'll buy one.

While it isn't a direct copy of Nintendo's controller, and while Nintendo isn't the first to use the technology, you'd have to be blind to not see that Sony is obviously takinga jab at Nintendo with the tilt sensor. Nintendo was hyping up their unique way of gameplay and Sony simply borrowed from it to steal their thunder. It may not by the "OMG STEALORZ" that everyone is saying, but it still is rather shameless and an attempt to halt Nintendo's treck.
