@robertico7 @ravenkiller They wanted to be first before Sony and M$ because no one would have cared if they were releasing a weaker console after the next gens. At least that's what they probably thought...what a mistake.
Wow, they expect an increased sale of 241% by march 2014 ?! .... This is far too optimistic. Nintendo is on cruise control set at "crash softly" if they solely rely on their first party titles, they are certainly great but they definitely need support and for that they should aim to change one or two of their policies.
But hey, their first mistake were to release the Wii U with an incredibly lack of good titles. Let just hope that the lesson has been learned and announce a new Metroid already !
I think that this is a normal course, old bosses will always have hard time to follow the new one. Now Mattrick have less rocks in his way, let's see how he will take adventage of it.
@Mugzippit When you're well prepared and organized, global release does not affect your deadlines and even if it was, there wouldn't be a problem or it wouldn't matter as everyone have the same release date.
No matter how hard they'll try, I do not take that BS of region locking, this is a form of control no more no less, they have to change their plans and calculations accordingly because when you think about it, what really matters when you apply region lock if it's not retail price ? We've seen it with sony selling the ps2 at 500$ in the US and 500 euros in europe, like $ and euros was the same....
Many business plan based a gobal release are working, it's just a matter of will, plus people wouldn't import if they could buy the game on time at the store next to them.
