@mdign Totally agree. It went from being the coolest looking thing in the game, to the ugliest by far.

@pal_080 Yeah, I see your point. However, if he's targeting that market with a game like Beyond Two Souls, good luck to him. Having re-read the article, I do still feel that he comes across as patronising and pretentious, but your point was a good one.

EDIT: He also specifically calls that group "hardcore gamers" and though I wouldn't personally consider myself anything close to a hardcore gamer, there are many people with vastly different viewpoints who would place themselves in that category.

From his comments, I don't think he understands what many people think games should be. He says that some gamers "think that games should only be about shooting and about action and killing and competing", which to be honest is a bit insulting. There may well be a small community of gamers out there who believe that, but it is in no way representative of the "hardcore gamer" community, as he calls it. I mostly enjoy games for the exploration of worlds and the enjoyment of a good story, and yes, I do enjoy the combat, but for him to imply that this is the only thing that games with a higher level of interactivity have to offer is blatantly pretentious and doesn't make me eager to try his games.

I was thinking, "this is a pretty cool trailer considering it's just for a couple of skins".

Then the dubstep started.

Did Arkham City really advance Asylum? In my opinion, no. The open world served only as a place to practice combat skills. The big addition was side missions, which Origins is set to expand hugely. I'm happy.

I fail to understand how the Fallen are copies of Elites. I can understand that the Hive are similar to the Flood, but that's just because they're zombies, and almost every fantasy or sci-fi game has zombies these days. Comparing the Fallen to the Elites screams of a lack of imagination to me. They are far more humanoid than the Elites, the larger types have four arms, their movements are scuttling and spider-like, their clothing aesthetic is far different (furs and capes, almost tribal compared to the shiny brightly colored elite space armour). The only similarity that I can see to be honest is they have guns and they are tall and thin.

This could be the KotOR III we've been waiting for, but without the impossible expectations. Hopefully they do a better job of portraying the period than the Force Unleashed did.
