I'll respect the fact you mention Bioware hasn't done so well with adding the aforementioned features, because I agree. Also, dragon age 2 sucked. At this point, I don't even know if there's a story (only played DA2 for about 3 hours before I couldn't take it anymore) I like to think that adding new features will be a hit or miss (obviously im hoping for 'hit') & it could be what the series needs to revive it. If done correctly, co-op could be a solid entry as well. Hopefully they figure out what they did wrong with handling it in ME3 & fix that for DA3.

I think the reason why gamers hate the idea of co-op on RPG's is because the majority of RPG gamers are introverts who are socially inept. At a business perspective, adding new features such as co-op will make casual buyers interested. The market is built up of a lot of casual buyers. Co-op is going to happen. That's why even games like God of War are having multiplayer. Not every game can follow the same formula for years & still be successful (wink wink, pokemon) most companies need to add new things to hopefully attract new attention & keep the buyers from being bored of the same ol'. People should be more understanding of why companies do this & find a way to deal with it. For example, not buying the game.

@nocoolnamejim @the_craig

Yeah craig I see what you mean. That's why in my post below I mentioned how I'd only enjoy if it was offline co-op, so it wouldn't get in the way of the strategy aspects.

& Jim, I take it you enjoy a shot of whiskey by yourself as well? some people may enjoy doing things alone but the majority like to have social interactions. video gaming has been competitive since the very beginning. if video gaming was meant to be 'better without people being involved' they wouldn't feel the need to make arcades, would they? I am on the same boat as I assume you & most others who want the game to be more like the first having a better narrative experience, but that doesn't mean adding co-op will destroy it. It's an optional feature. If you prefer being alone, go ahead. Doesn't make it wrong or right for the company to try to add new things to the franchise to try to gather more interest.

@the_craig the game has 4 players in a party, 3 of which active by A.I, why would it be bad to have them active with a user?

customization could be nice...depends how they take on it. co-op could be good but it's probably best for offline. online co-op i feel would make the game less story driven. the story in dragon age 1 was beautiful. its a shame that once a game gets a good narrative they think the buyers want more explosives & killing.

this is why i hate nintendo handhelds. make ONE superior model so you don't have to make different variations...annoying cash grabbing attempt.

Co-op could be interesting. To keep the fear factor of the game, they could have moments where you have to split up or 1 of the characters gets enclosed in an area without weapons & the other character has to think fast & save the partner. Maybe even have moments where communication between you & the other player (assuming the co-op is online) is eliminated due to 'poor frequency' & you have to fix the communication. Just some thoughts :) Co-op could work for sure.

Meh. This game needs online to last. Even so, a lot of this stuff is rehashed & has already been done which won't attract a lot of people.
