And lol at seeing Circle Takes The Square in the OP's list. That band is so bad and bland. What's the appeal? I fell asleep when I saw them live.
I guess you should check out: Converge, Origin, Pig Destroyer, and older Napalm Death just to get you on the right track.
For some proper emo (Please don't use the word screamo): Orchid, Neil Perry, Jerome's Dream (Hit or miss with the vocals), Envy, City Of Caterpillar, Portraits Of Past, and La Quiete. Once again, just to get things started for you.
Black Metal: Antaeus, Negura Bunget, Deathspell Omega, Velvet Cacoon, Leviathan, and Spektr.
[QUOTE="darksword1123"][QUOTE="I_Stole_the_Tv"][QUOTE="darksword1123"][QUOTE="I_Stole_the_Tv"][QUOTE="zepman71"]The Beatles, Husker Du, The Replacements, Dinosaur Jr.
I_Stole_the_Tv
I like these, well except for The Beatles, just not my thing.
Anyway some more:
John Cale, Brian Eno, The Fall, Captain Beefheart, Mission of Burma, Television, Gang of Four, Public Image Ltd., Guided By Voices, Echo & the Bunnymen, Talking Heads, Sly & the Family Stone, Frank Zappa, Curtis Mayfield, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, The Flaming Lips, Animal Collective, Roxy Music, Sonic Youth, The Jam, Spacemen 3, Cocteau Twins, Talk Talk, The Pogues, XTC, etc. etc.
Edit: oh yeah I forgot the best band of the 90's...PAVEMENT. Oops.
Great list. Thanks, I liked your list as well. Cool to see other people into Tom Verlaine/Television and Brian Eno. You collect vinyl by any chance? I've noticed people who are into the bands you and I like are pretty big vinyl hounds.
Unfortunately no....if I could ever find the money to collect some vinyl records I would definitely do so.Yeah I know what you mean. I started like two years ago and now have close to 1500 albums on vinyl. It can be a real money sink and takes up a hell of a lot of space, but it's a fun and rewarding hobby and the records do tend to hold their value.
where's the list at brahThis is a neat list. I'll be seeing Spiritualized this summer! It's time to introduce you to some psychedelic rock, post-rock and shoegaze!
Ahem... :D
- The Brian Jonestown Massacre
- Spacemen 3
- Spiritualized
- The Jesus and Mary Chain
- Ride
- The Dandy Warhols
- The Sleepy Jackson
- The High Dials
- The Velvet Underground
- Explosions in the Sky
- Sigur Ros
- Mogwai
- Black Rebel Motorcycle ClubAnd that's it for now :)

[QUOTE="Berzz"][QUOTE="blooddemon666"][QUOTE="Thechaninator"]No that was more directed at the general belief that nu-metal sucks because it isn't complex.
I will admit I like Slipknot abit but they are in the same boat as LB where I just like it because it's fun.
Oh and yeah, I don't like any black metal to be honest......
tzar3
I only like 2-3 black metal bands
Drudkh
October Tide
Though those bands aren't pure black metal, they do have a lot of black metal influences. I like black metal when it's mixed with other genres like doom, or death metal.
Akercoke
And of course, one of my new fav bands Agalloch
There's (some) pretty good black metal bands out there, I'm not a huge fan but I would recommend Wolves in the Throne Room, Summoning, and Alcest.
And dont forget Bathory.
Well yeah, no crap. Honestly if you know what Black Metal is to begin with, you should already know who the big names are.Darkthrone, Burzum, Emperor, Mayhem, Immortal, Satyricon, Bathory, etc...

Alcest is pretty much amazing, but if you ask me he's not really Black Metal anymore. Just a little influence thrown into the mix, but not true Black Metal.Sonic Youth - Goo
Lord_Daemon
Ridiculously good. I still kick myself every day for not seeing them live when I had the chance. One day.
Lords Of Light - Big Money
