No, I had already scoured that list. In fact, if you click Browse All Games, you can sort them on year. And no, I didn't find it, sadly.

Hi, I should already thank you just for taking a gander at the topic. Seeing as you probably hope you can be of help. Much appreciated.
I have no actual screenshots or video fragments of the game, just a description. So I will make it as detailed as possible. Help you help me, get it?

The game I played was a demo, and it was quite some time ago. Maybe even more than a decade.

It involved lamborghini-like sportscars, but with mounted guns. The game mainly seemed to revolve around such cars, although the demo did offer a beat-down old Volkswagen, I think. But I never picked that. My AI opponents were always in such sports cars as well.

Let's get into details.

The mounted weaponry was an option you could change yourself, I think. You could swap out, I think, maybe two of them. The option surely had a gattling gun available, and maybe some rockets too. Some homing, some not. I can't remember a whole lot more regarding that.

As for the cars: Like I said, they were the luxurious sportscar types. Think Lamborghini and such sleek designs. What stood apart though, was the game's engine. I personally believe the game was from around the year 2000, give or take a year or two. Especially since there were lighting effects I back then hadn't seen before. Sunshine shines on the car, fancy shadows. The quality was also quite impressive, as the cars looked quite sleek and shiny.

Gameplay was simple, you had to win the race, and could use your weaponry to blow up your opponents. I am not sure if they respawned, but I believe they did.
The demo involved a single track in a Far Cry 2-ish Africa, I believe. There were yellow rocks just like Far Cry 2, but also patches of green. Bushes, trees and such. The start and finish line also was in the town.

I can't think of much more details I could give you. But if yuo can think of something useful I could remember, please do not hesitate to ask.
I have always loved this game as a child, even if it was a demo. Combining fancy lamborghini-ish sportscars with mounted weaponry was just... simply awesome.

Searching Gamespot and Google (extensively) yielded no result. So I turn to you, dear Gamespot community. Would you kindly help me find this missing pearl? Any ideas, suggestions or even titles that come to mind can be helpful. Just know that the emphasis lies on the cars. They were sleek and sportscar-ish. Probably didn't carry the actual name of the brands though, but we all know why that was.

You guys are my last hope.

I've done all the steps that were described, but when it was all done, I kept getting this error:

Exception in engineInit: File\DATA\INPUT.TXT not found

As the stupid wiseguy I am, I created the file in the data directory, whereas it said that certain file is corrupt instead of not found.
Can somebody please hand me the file, or tell me what I should do?

I'm a dimwit on this whole techie thing.
So a more forward sollution that doesn't require any techie knowledge (or long, agonising steps that are bound to go wrong at a point) would be very very, VERY appreciated...

I'm already happy Darkje's sollution made me able to play MP again, but once you've had a taste of Katana, you don't want anything else for MP. =P

So, uh... a distress call for help from a dimwit?
