Re: "job" comment below: This IS their job, just like tennis, chess, football, or other games that people work at for hours per day for which they get paid (or not). I'd find it hard to believe that these guys still consider it a game in the sense that most people do. ...but to fair, have I ever watched one of these events? Heck no -- I've got a job. ;)
For the love of all past Gears games.... PLEASE don't tell this story in "reverse-flashback-narration" for the final game!!! It was derivative, awful, and annoying in Hitman, Black Ops, DA2, and almost every half-baked game or film that it's been used for during the last decade-plus.

@-The-G-Man- Meh... I've read all the books (even the last/horrible one), and played through each game as multiple classes and difficulties... The ending honestly didn't bother me much. As expected, it simply stated "here's how we're going to introduce this universe to the inevitable MMORPG." No surprise there, and you pretty much have to be that vague in order to end up with the same setup for their next franchise. Again, no surprise -- IT'S EA WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.
