Over the last week I played the first two Halo games. They are only good, far from great, and among the most repetitive games I've ever played. I just cannot see what everyone else is seeing. Like, usually when I don't like a game as much everyone else, I can still see what it was about the game that made them like it so much. Twilight Princess and Bioshock are examples of this (I enjoyed these games, but neither one amazed me). I just have no idea what it is about Halo 1 and Halo 2 that rocketed them to instant stardom. Seriously, all this game involved is running, shooting and driving vehicles. I literally forced myself to finish the second game, because it just became repetitive so disgustingly fast. Nothing is special about this series, and if I'm wrong about that, I will never realize what that happens to be. Maybe it's the multiplayer, which I have not played. But the single player campaign is not even close to being on the same level as the Half-Life series, or Gears of War, or other FPS titles.dave003

I have to disagree with that 2bh, Halo 1 had somethin to it! it sucks people in! its got some zing to it that i cant xplain! ill give u the halo 2 campaign. i only played it once, but halo 1s campaign i replayed millions of times.

2bf mate am not slaggin it off i loved it back in the day, but just like u grow out of powerrangers, the love for mario an crash an all the other rodenty/cartoony platforms dies....

in what way?? im just sayin its unfair to say that mario is gods gift to gaming just coz its mario (an nintendo), whereas halo is always "teh overratedness" coz its a FPS on the xbox.

Halo 3 is considered overrated because compared to many other FPS games (opinion obviously) it does nothingabove and beyond what other FPSgames before it have doneyetrecieved lesser scores. Thus makes it overrated (once again, its an opinion)

Galaxy on the other hand, truly does something that makes it stand out from other platformers. Whether its deserving of its score here at gamespot i can't say, it could be an overrated title as well,but from everything i have seen and heard about it, it certainly seems like it is a proper successor to Mario 64 and better than practically every other platformer that has released in the past 10 years which in my opinion makes it very deserving of its scores.

Get it in your head that just because some one says a game is overrated, doesn't make it a bad game. Just because i think Halo 3 is overrated doesn't mean i think it should be buried along with ET for the Atari. I just feel the game isn't deserving of a 9 but I also feel it isn't a game that deserves anything lower than an 8(as someone who is about the beat the campaign a 3rd time, and has played nearly 600 online matches, I think my opinion should be respected). And I am not going to post my reasoning for thinking halo is overrated because i can go on for a while about it.

but doesnt that mean its tradin off the success of its predessor much as halo 3 does??? i mean "a propa successor" to another game sorta suggests that meaning its not standing on its own merits. Im not sayin that thats the case just that it cant be "omg teh haloz 2 an 3 are crap people only like it coz of 1" an "marios mint coz its lyk the second comin of 64". at the end of the day uv gotto let halo have its success as well!

Well its quite simple. Galaxy is basically the 3rd Mario 3D Platformer in 10+ years. There was Mario 64(awesome), Sunshine(not bad), and then there is Galaxy. Eevn though there are a million mario games(baseball,golf,kart,paint,etc.) everyone knows that the Mario platformers are the ones to get. Galaxy is almost a Mario64 2 but its in space, new power ups, made 2 consoles later, and has a brilliant artistic approach.

Halo 3 on the other hand, is the same old halo with a graphics upgrade. Halo has brought nothing new to the FPS world, nothing! But, I have played my fair share(I beat single player on legendary with my roomate who owns it and have played almost every game of multiplayer with him and he has his "Eagles Wings" as we joking like to call them so like 1,000 games or 500exp. It has nice HD quality graphics, a few new weapons, a few new power ups, and a decent story at best.

Yea halo (the first one at least) had something magic! it got me into gaming, playing coop on ledgendary assault on the control room wit my mates was just cla$$ic. over xbox live halo 2 just was immense but i didnt lyk the campaign. the 3rd one fixed evthing tho i just love it! it had the campaign of one an the multiplayer of 2. I dont care if i didnt bring anythin new, it was amazing for what it was. Chocolate cake doesnt bring anythin new but i still eat it! not evthing has to be a massive innovation! you jaded person u!

Read this. See how Galaxy is .1% behind OoT, and how Halo isn't even on the list... Yeah... Galaxy wins. This comes from a guy who owns both a Wii and 360 and played Halo 3 all night the Friday after it came out (cursed school gets in the way of every thing)
