it does for me! how do you explain that? i wanted to make sure one more time , i got my gears of war game outta the console and made my console vertical and got the game in again then i played it for 2 or 3 minutes and it got scratched. anyways its getting scratches on horizontal too :(

Might want to call Microsoft then and get it repaired, sounds like a disk drive problem.

It has had problems for the first year or so with the vertical scratching disks while still, but most cases people were screwing around and knocked them over, scratching the disks. I got my new 360 4 months ago and decided to give it a shot on vertical. Haven't had any problems with it but I have heard Microsoft has put more stability into the disk drives making them less likely to scratch while vertical.
