There are only so many hardcore gamers out there, but casual gamers and non gamers take up more of the population... and thats the market Nintendo is going after, so it's no wonder they are doing so well.
Unless ther eis visually a reason to switch to DX10 (ie better performance, better graphics) it would be worth it, but since this game has no difference, you'd be best to stick with DX9. The Cry engine is prmarily made for dx10 and the dx9 is more of a compatibility mode, which is why it looks so much nicer on dx10. I'm still waiting for second gen dx10 cards to come out before I make the switch.
Wow... I'm reall yunderwhelmed about this. It looks a lot like the same character models were used and gun models, and all they did was add sharper textures (with larger resolutions) and added better shadows. I'd have been more impressed if it used the Unreal 3 engine or at least looked closer to the CGI trailer they made. The graphics are literally Half life 2 graphics from 2 years ago. Way to show off the power of the 360 MS!
I don't think it will make a huge difference. Look at the tires on the PC version, all angular and polygonal looking, but at least on 480p they looked round-ish.
That's actually really good considering that ATI and NVIDIA both have not added graphics acceleration and optimizations to their drivers yet. Both sets of drivers are only using basic acceleration, so I would expect a quick catchup in the next month or two once new drivers come out. Give it some time.
