I use Audio Technica ATH-AD700. Best investment I ever made for gaming. Because they have a very wide soundstage (better than even significantly more expensive headphones) they give you great positional audio in games. I use it through an amp connected to my Xbox 360 and just play with the headset around my neck with the mic near my mouth.

The thing about getting quality headphones such as the AD700s or some comparable set versus gaming headsets such as Turtle Beaches or Trittons is that the turtles and trittons are hitting a niche market and really don't need to brag about quality audio so much. If you get real headphones you can use them for movies, music, gaming and any other audio medium and they'll sound amazing! Listening to music on turtles will just be disappointing.

Final point: DO NOT fall for the surround-sound headphone gimmick! You only have 2 ears and you only need one sound source per ear to get complete positional audio. If you have a pair of stereo headphones lying around try listening to some of those binaural audio tracks on youtube (on highest quality of course) and you'll see how amazing it is with only one speaker per ear!

This past year saw a very solid lineup of PS3 games released, including several exclusives that I really wish I could get my hands on (Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 etc...)

My question to you is, even though I already have an Xbox, should I piss away another $300+ to pick up the system plus these games or should I just be happy with what I have?

Just as an aside, if you plan on going for headphones (which is actually great if you're using it solely for yourself), NEVER go with surround sound headphones. Surround sounds headphones in theory give no better directional audio than stereo since you only have 2 ears and they're sitting right on top of them. Just go for some quality stereo headphones and you'll have great positional audio (bigger soundstage=better, Audio Technica ATH AD700=gorgeous sound stage).

God damn same thing just happened to me, I had my xbox at my mom's and didn't hook it up to live at all while I was there, however I played at my friends house on his xbox so I brought my account over, during that time I played through Mass Effect and whne I came home and recovered my gamertag I lost all those achievements. ~500gp

Thanks, I actually hadn't bought the xbox 360 yet, so I'll be getting a "new" one. I also found out that tere is no component to Hdmi adapter... oops :p Originally I thought only the Elite had HDMI output, but now that I know the "new" pros have them too, all I need to do is buy a cheap male-to-male HDMI cable and I'm saving basically $100 (that I don't have).

Let me get this straight...

So if I have an Xbox 360 (NOT Elite) plugged in to a 1080p HDTV through the RGB Component cables whatever they are, it will send the signal as 720p correct? Not 1080p?

But if I had the Xbox 360 Elite and plugged it in using the HDMI cable, it would send the signal in 1080p, so the picture would be better, yes?

What happens if I have the Xbox 360 Pro and plug the RGB Component cables into an HDMI adapter and plug that into the HDTV, would the signal still be 720p or what?

And is there even really a difference to playing the Xbox 360 with 720p or 1080p? Isn't it only 720p in the first place? I'm so confused, someone please clarify! :)

ZOMG.

I played Fable: The Lost Chapters through like 10 times and it was still fun until I finally sold my Xbox.

I think it would be far more apt to compare Fable 1 to Morrowind. Morrowind was such a terrible game in my opinion, I could never get anywhere. I find Oblivion to be a lot better than Morrowind, but it's definately no MY type of game. I like RPGs but I prefer a more lineal experience. I like having freedom, but I don't want so much freedom that I get lost and can't enjoy myself. I want to play a game for entertainment, gaming should not be turned into a "meaningful pursuit", such as Oblivion.

I think we're going to have to wait until Fable 2 is released, so we can compare two next-gen RPGs from polar opposite structures of the genre.

IT has a very strong game base, and Xbox Live is dominant. The first games I bought with it, though, were Halo 3 and GH3. (I bought it recently)

I haven't played it yet, but from some videos I was watching it seems to play similarly to Gears of War. At least on the video I saw, it seemed like the people weren't aiming well and the look sensitivity appeared a bit slow. What do you guys think?
