This may be the most underwhelming console launch of all time. Practically no launch titles to be excited over and completely pathetic release availability.
@cboye18: Absolutely. For me BF4 was peak bloat with the levolution, influx of lock-on/heatseaking weapons, putting attachments in lootcrates, and so on. BC2 16v16 felt better than most of the 32v32 maps we've had since. I miss how simple it was despite its issues.
@Dilandau88: I wasn't referring to the player count or match size. I'm thinking more about how much the focus has shifted to graphics and gimmicks since transitioning to Frostbite. They're always bragging about how beautiful the game will be and the new tech but I'd be much more excited to hear about how they're going to put more emphasis on the sandbox gameplay or about how much content the game will have at launch.
Sounds like a big red flag to me. Battlefield was at it's best when it wasn't trying to be the most "epic" and "ambitious" game out there. This franchise is basically a Frostbite tech demo and little else at this point.
Wonderful. Personally, I don't have the time of day to bother with these kinds of games. Timed unlocks, quests and challenges are too time consuming when there are so many other good games to play. Throwing in microtransactions as shortcuts just makes the deal even more bitter- it's all about money at the cost of gameplay anymore.
BFV and Battlefront 2 have proven to me that EA/DICE are not capable of properly managing their games as a service.
@howlingfantod: Arkane has some some of the best games in recent memory, at least for me anyway. It's a shame their talent was wasted on such an underwhelming release.
CO-OP centric, microtransactions, boring RPG mechanics, etc.... Doesn't look awful but I think I'll wait on this one. I skipped the previous entry to the series and will gladly do the same here. DOOM is stealing Wolfensteins thunder this year.
