@starlancex8 @Niamh79 You forget, Mass Effect wasn't a female centered game. You had the choice to create a female character, the ads for the game and cover art still depicted the male shep. I don't know how to break it down to you any more clearly...we may have a couple of games out there, we could use more. Not everyone likes the tomb raider series.

@starlancex8 @Niamh79 You are the thick one. Most likely I've been playing games before you were even born. From my experience, I find the lack of protagonists I can identify with to be sorely lacking. If you think I am talking strictly about *this* game, we need to sign you up for an adult literacy class.
@starlancex8 @Niamh79 A game like Mass Effect where you can be a female protagonist who is treat with respect, intelligent, commanding,and not dressed in a ridiculously sexual manner. Without emphasis being placed of her being feeeeeemale. We need more games like this.
@starlancex8 There are games with women who are written by guys yes. I've been playing games for decades now and haven't run across many female characters I identify with at ALL. Lots of women feel that way and as they make up 45% of the gaming base, it sounds like a reasonable request.

Do you think videogames should remain the sole province of heterosexual white males only? By diversifying protagonists in videogames, you are more likely to enrich the storytelling process.

It would be nice to play a game centered on a woman, deal with her character development without her 1. Falling into some danger that she needs to be saved from by some dude. 2. Being dressed in an overtly sexual manner or without emphasis being placed on her physicality or 3. Existing for the sole purpose of driving the male's storyline further. It sounds like a reasonable request to me. From the reaction of the board you'd think the author was advocating punting puppies and kittens on a football field. What is so offensive about critiquing a trend in games?
