I can't believe I didn't thought of this earlier, probably because I'm an idiot. There are a lot of Diablo players that stopped playing on Battle.net and turned to private servers because the economy on the official servers have turned to crud because of all the illegal deals and duping. One of the things they were looking forward to Diablo was the hope that with the improved Battle.net and Blizzard's massive amounts of new funds, they could create a great system that could keep back the real money farmers. Of course, there are scrubs that say this makes it 'fair' because their time is 'too valuable' to spend 10-15 hours like the '40 year old virgins who live their their mother's basement'. Scrubs.

I agree there is greed on both sides. There on just sometimes though where it is clear that some of the changes ere based purely off greed IMO. An example of what you talked about TC is Sony and the PlayStation 3's old ability to have Linux. It was a very nice optional version for the tech savvy of us to make the PS3 much more customizable and useful. But then a small handful of hackers ruined it for everyone by using the features to crack the PS3 and have made piracy possible. Everyone cries fowl when taking away saying that they just want homebrews. But most will tell you if you look around for PS3 hacks the grand majority of them are just to allow you to pirate. (I wouldn't know, for my own safety I stay away from those kinds of websites.)

(I've been waiting for a thread like this. Posting now so I can read it later.) Yes but I'm not that bad, as long as the graphics aren't too ugly its fine. Mostly, only original NES games and games before it have graphics too ugly for me. The colors for the original Super Mario Bros. for the NEW look like puke to me. I have played a little bit on Zelda 1 on a LoZ collection disk that has 4 Zelda games, and I found the graphics too basic. Not only that but I have no sense of directions in games and I keep getting lost. And the old gameplay designs were BS, there was this one area where you were surrounded by rocks so your moments were limited, and these giant spiders hop around with no problem and they not only hurt you just by touching you, they shoot things that hurt you as well. So yeah, its not just outdated graphics to me but rather outdated graphics combined with old gameplay mechanics that make it too frustrating, hard, and/or boring.

System Wars is all about system vs system, game vs game, and genre vs genre. Its not like I come HERE or to its own forums and openly mock it. It just part of the System Wars spirit... If you can't see the problems of the real money AH then that's YOUR problem. And if you refuse to play a game because it 'looks boring' (what game doesn't look boring when you aren't playing it yourself?) and you go by reviews while saying III can't make more judgments is your problem. But its looks like we won't agree. Good day.

[QUOTE="Nerkcon"][QUOTE="XaosII"]Translations: "This game cant possibly be good because it doesn't fit my perception.XaosII

Stopped reading there. I am not a fan of action rPGs but you know you can't trust reviews when Call of Duty rehashes get great scores every year. Blizzard is now owned by the same company as Call of Duty, you really think that won't affect Blizzard's scores at all?

Do you think it might just be possible that even CoD is a good game that you just dont like. It doesn't stop it from being a very good game.

Fighting games get high scores all the time. Doesn't mean i like them. Doesn't mean they are bad games, either.

But you should keep reading my post. It addresses your ridiculous notion of reviewers not fitting your perception either.

My favorite video game series of all time is the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors series that continues to get lower and lower reviews and you say I can't make my own judgments? :| I'm downloading Diablo 2 right now just to prove to you I've played it (there was a mod I'd been wanting to try out anyways). Are ya happy? EDIT: What realm do you play on? I don't know how to upload a screenshot. EDIT 2: I'm trying to run the game now but Windows 7 won't let me, says there are computability issues. I don't know which version my CDs download, can I just manually download patch 1.13 regardless of the version? EDIT 3: I got it to work via computability mode. I have 1.13 installed. What realm do you play on?

[QUOTE="Mograine"]And we have no idea how the itemization works, no idea if any of that is final and no idea if they are changing anything else on top of the skill/character points system to balance it out.

It feels like I'm talking to a brick wall tho. I'll laugh so hard when Diablo 3 hits and its scores break the 1-10 scale -wildflower-

Odd then that you are a so vehemently defending a game that, by your own admission, "we have no idea," about. Break the 1-10 score, eh? Hypocrisy much?

Hes probably right about breaking the 1-10 scale though, because reviewers score based on hype now. Very cruddy games receive great scores all the time and Diablo will be no different. Note that I don't like action RPGs so I won't be able to tell if Diablo 3 is a good one or not, I'm just pointing out that even if it does end up being crud so much that you hate it Mogranie, for whatever reason, it will get near perfect/perfect scores regardless of whatever was wrong with it.

[QUOTE="Nerkcon"] I have meant some people over the years that said they prefer Diablo as a single player game. I didn't understand it either. People playing WoW as a single player game were the worst though. WoW was fun in a group but boring to solo. I gave up at level 27. But the leveling is basically a single player story mode, right? I heard everything is instance now.Mograine

Yeah, it is.

WoW has always been about istances at high level.

No, I meant when leveling the game world changes like in a single player RPG. A level 15 character wouldn't be able to meet a level 50 character. I knew dungeons were always instance. Everquest 1 used to have none instance dungeons, and it didn't turn out so well. :P

There are a lot of games like that, not sure what your counterpoint is.

Mograine

You misunderstood what I meant.

Singleplayer games are meant to be played for their story, their mechanics, their characters, what have you.

Diablo 2's SP is pointless because you could go on B.net and play alone until you've beaten Baal on Hell and it would be the exact same. There's no point in playing the SP, only downsides.
