Nothing is safe in the internet. Heck, look at Facebook. It's voyeur heaven. I've lost count on how many times my credit card got compromised (way back before the PS3 and all this hijacking brouhaha). So saying PSN is the only unsafe service out there is rather silly (and dare I say, ignorant) IMO.

I still remember the day my father bought a Sound Blaster for our PC, I think in 1992 or something. It was so beautiful to hear my favourite games like Might & Magic 3, the original Prince of Persia, and Sierra and LucasArts’ adventure games in brilliant midi. It might have something to do with experiencing sound from a new technology, but I still feel that games back then have excellent music, comparable to today’s standards, IMO. One game could really illustrate one of your points extremely well, Kevin: Flower. It doesn't have any dialogue, interface, even texts (unless you count the credit). It relied entirely on its visual and aural experience to immerse the players, and succeeded massively (at least for me) in pulling emotions than most of those faux-grandeur high-profile games *cough*FF13*cough*. Flower’s triumphant, rapturous piece in the climax nearly brought me to tears. Other games with the 'Best Soundtrack' label in my book are Heroes of Might & Magic 2, Killer7, The Longest Journey, Ico, Shadow of The Colossus, and of course, Space Channel 5 Part 1&2. One dubious entry: Drakengard. Most people thought that game’s constantly looping soundtracks was horrible (even I used to). But I felt the music perfectly captured the feel of the game’s corrupt, insane, and hopeless world. It turned a dull hack-and-slash game into a mesmerizing one, so thus, to me, it was an incredible soundtrack.

All of these villains (perhaps except Sephiroth and Kane) have nothing on Shodan, the villain of the legendary System Shock 1 & 2. No other game villains I've seen could touch her level of malice, creepiness and arrogance.
