Sorry for the double post once again, but just thought I'd let you guys know I got the Freezer 13. Installation wasn't so great, thanks to the crappy instructions, but oh well. Temps have already dropped and I can barely hear my computer, despite my four case fans running. The F13 fan is aimed upwards, towards my top exhaust fan. One last thing, could anyone tell me if this is safe:

having all four chassis fans connected together like that? Thanks for all the help and advice, everyone!

A very popular CPU cooler a few years ago, and probably still is. You should be okay with it. I've heard nothing but good comments about it.. but nowadays, the Hyper 212+ is probably one of the best price/cooling performance.Elann2008
Great, thanks! I was highly considering the regular Freezer 13 with the 92mm fan for space concerns; how much better would the performance of the PRO be (it has a 120mm fan).

The Antec 300 have no trouble at all with fitting the 212+ but the best way to go about it is fitting it directed upwards to the roof fan.

I have had both the 212+ and an Antec 300 and they work fine together, you can even fit the fan directed to the back but that is a tight fit with only a tiny bit to the roof-fan from the heasink.

So it'll fit but with a little hassle to mount it directed to the back/ I/O and no problem to the top.

How it'll can be mounted is partly depending on the Motherboard, with four ram slots it wont cause a trouble on most boards, but where the socket sits can make a difference if you can mount it horisontal/to the back.

You wont find another cooler to even be near 212+ performance at the prize for it, I would get it because it's performance is in the top with the best aircoolers for silly little money.

Ah okay! I have an AMD mobo (ASUS M4A77TD), so as far as I know, it can only be fitted up towards the top exhaust fan or down, towards the GPU.

Sorry to bump/double post, but I was looking to save a few bucks, and stumbled upon the Arctic Cooling Freezer 13/13 PRO; they seem decent enough. Would either of those be suitable for my case size-wise?

The case im using came from a prebuilt company in the uk, I havent got round to changing it yet. Cooling isnt brill in the case tho,

I also got AS5, great stuff.

Have a look at the AS website it shows you how to install the thermal paste,.

And your'll be fine when installing it, i found the instruction booklet useless so i followed the CM guide on youtube.

Tim_Millington

I'm aware of how to apply thermal paste to the CPU, but I've read that some people have also applied some to the fins, as well. I found the CM guide on YouTube to be quite useless, but that's mostly because I'm unsure of how all this stuff works. Also, would there be any advantage in going MX-4 vs AS5 other than lack of curing time?

It doesn't take much tech know how. Just be kind of gentle read the instructions and or watch some youtube videos (they have video how tos of EVERYTHING) AutoPilotOn
Right, thanks! I've been watching some YouTube videos of the installation, and some of them are very underwhelming as they don't show the correct way to apply the thermal paste or don't show instructions for AMD, but Intel instead. :/

Reviews stated that it's okay to use the paste that comes with it but I use arctic silver 5. I haven't seen my load temps climb over 45c. Could be due to my HAF 932. Fans are all over the place. And keep in mind, I have two fans attached to the 212+. Intake air flow on the right, pushing out to the left with another fan to the main exhaust to the back. Basically right to left, as it should be. My idle temp can be as low as 26c-30c. Depending on the weather. Right now it's kinda hot in Los Angeles, CA as summer is approaching so my ambient, CPU, and GPU temps are noticeably higher throughout. I hope that helps.

Good to know. I might pick up some MX-4 to go along with this cooler. For installation, what level of tech expertise do you recommend? This is my first build, and I'd rather not crack my motherboard or anything during installation, ha ha. :?

EDIT: Just got out of a game of Bad Company 2, andyup, highest posted temp in Core Temp is 67°C while the lowest is 42°C. Seems to average between 45-51° during regular browsing or watching YouTube videos. Sheesh. :/
