@Saidrex: This always reminds me of my days in World of Warcraft looking for a raiding guild. All the best guilds in the world say, "Currently recruiting!" on their websites. But the chances of you playing for them, even if you are as good as it gets, is slim to none. To some degree it probably strokes their egos seeing 100's of applications for one or zero open spots.
Haven't read the article yet but this was obvious. Blizzard and Riot make ungodly amounts of money. Riot must be a billion dollar company and how many people do they need to design one champion every 2 months? So it makes sense they would hire the best of the best and treat them like royalty. Also what artist or gaming fan wouldn't want their work to reach the most people. Blizzard and riot have some of the most played games on the planet. The developers for Blizzard and Riot are like the movie star celebrities of the gaming world. They will get 20 million a film while the rest of them bust their asses for a commercial spot.
All I was thinking the whole video was, "Has nobody in this room played World of Warcraft?" It pretty much has already done exactly what Levine is talking about with reputation bars. WoW solved the problems that they are talking about by having this scattered non-thematic narrative underlying the large thematic narrative. For example there are multiple quests where you are simply hunting wolves or collecting flowers. While the player can enjoy these mini stories and tasks, they know all the while that the Lich King is the Archenemy of this game world.
If anyone is thinking of waiting for the PS3 to have a price drop let me just say that it is going to take a very long time because it will take a very long time for the PS3 to recover from what it takes them to make the system as to what they are selling it for. SO if you are thinking of getting the PS3 the day it comes out i would say good for you because there is no sense in waiting for a price drop if your are as into games as i am!
