[QUOTE="MonsterVision"]makes me sick to know this movie cost 140,000,000 to make.xaosWhy is that? That is a pretty moderate summer blockbuster budget A film like the original "Predator" was made for 15 million, and has a much better impact than something like Transformers 3 made for over 100 million. It's subjective, but I don't think these films like Green Lantern, Xmen First Class etc.. are worth a 100 million budget. It doesn't show.

That is an awful idea, it would affect game development because install bases would be low and few people would purchase such consoles. If the Wii-U came out at $250 to $300 at launch and then competition was priced at $600 at launch, forget it, no amount of superior power would get those $600 consoles to sell because people could pruchase the Wii-U for over half the price, and that money could then be spent on accessories, games, other items, or just be money saved. Consoles are supposed to be low cost for a reason, they are not supposed to be computers, they are supposed to be dedicated gaming devices at a low cost alternative to computer.

Cosoles are going to be higher priced next gen. The wii U won't be any where near $250(I don't think). The controller itself is going to be pricey. Pack thta in with more advanced tech and you have a pricey console. Sony showed that you can compete with an expensive console, it just isn't the business move you want to do every generation.
The reason Sony has been successful in the first place, was because their PS1 was priced at $299, while the Sega Saturn was $399. If the PS1 was priced at $600, I think Sega would still be making consoles today.[QUOTE="Xplode_games"]
[QUOTE="Heil68"]What Sony did do is show that a console won't sell well at that price point, even if the games would have ben better. I will be shocked to see any console in the future over $400. madsnakehhh
I disagree. What Sony showed was that people would choose the 360 over the PS3 and ignore blu-ray because it had more games, the graphics were equal AND it was $200 cheaper.
And the Wii sold even more because it was even cheaper.
The Wii may have sold more, but if the games don't sell, you have to factor those numbers too. an Example, the N64 didn't sell well, but they sold alot of games so it was still profitable for a lifespan of 5 years.
