Depends on what you mean by respect.

Awe? Neither.

Appreciation of their work? Not possible to directly compare.

The new format probably won't be that impressive from the perspective of someone used to the old format.

The old format will most likely look bad from the perspective of someone used to the new format.

This was the case with vhs vs dvd and I expect the same to be the case for dvd vs blue ray.

360 gameswise, no surprize there. Seems like it can't lose with Microsoft covering it's back. Their "throw money at it till the opposition dies" strategy pays off very well obviously and I don't see the ps3 winning with the difference in exposure.

When I go to my game store, it's 360 commercials all over. When I turn on my tv, 360 sponsers half the shows. I practically can't take a crap witout 360 sponsering it.

I really wan't to like the console (And I do apart from it being so damn noisy) but I can't help but feeling that Micosoft is buying their way to victory, which leaves a stale taste with a hint of sour in my mouth (Yes, I do realize that's how competetion works but MS really has it's evil empire thing going for them).

Live > psn but I strongly oppose MS's tendency to suck your life blood (money) whenever possible.

As far as dealing with the consoles themselves go, I like the ps3 better but if this keeps up I'll probably still end up selling it, just because the 360 receives superior support from the developers.

And btw... Am I the only one who thinks that achievements/Trophies are completely and utterly pointless? I've only hunted (By hunted, I mean farmed) for achievements in 1 game = Mass Effect and that was'nt for the sake of the achievements themselves.

Judging from the reviews I've seen so far it's about an 8 but don't get turned off by that.

Most of the high rated games I've seen on Gs should be slightly to vastly lowe.

Halo 3? Average at best, could'nt keep my attention even if it paid me in pies and blowjobs.

GTA4? I see the appeal but 10? Hell no.

MGS4? A weird mixture of pure amazing and being embarrased to play it. Great? Yes. 10? No.

Fallout 3? Great, but I'll give it an 8 tops (All versions, I fail to see what makes the xbox version so much better that it deserves a higher score. Can't very well rate future dlc).

I'd be surprized if Gears 2 did not deserve the praise. Shooters tend to impress me if they make me want to actually complete them.

Dead Space? I'll give it a 9 and go sell it when I'm done.

Some games give you 10 hours of intense awesome while others give you 40 hours of pleasent :)

Both have pros and cons.

One tends to need installs due to the slow and large blue ray while the other has faster dvd access but in return sounds like the bastard offspring of a vacuum cleaner and a powerdrill.

I believe most multiplats have bits and bobs that each console does better, giving the same overall impression approximately.

And when they don't, I'm willing to bet that you can blame the developer for it.

Gears 2 certainly looks nice but I'm gonna go ahead and claim that Dead Space looks better as far as overall quality goes.

Looks to me like Gears 2 follows the trend from the predecessor of having some bits of the impression look absolutely stunning while others look not so absolutely stunning.

I've yet to see any game provide gorgeous gfx across the board on any console though.

Weird... Just sat down and played a bit of Dead Space on my ps3 alongside that video... Oddly enough, my game seems to look better than both representations.

1080i, cross color off, full rgb and superwhite on.

Must be my tv and the fact that I've bothered adjusting it's visual settings (color, contrast, brightness, sharpness and maybe some other stuff).
