Just wanted to comment on bringing politics into games coverage but I'll keep it brief.
A) you're totally correct that politics is inherent in games, it's inherent in even our most simple actions eg: buying eggs (free range vs caged).
B) commenting on political issues in games like the last of us dlc is avalid and worth discussion.
C) I think the issue many have is where it appears to be shoehorned in unnecessarily eg Carolyn's coverage of infamous where she called out sexism in the players decision to try to influence a female npc's behaviour
Political discussions are great. Hypercondria, not so much.
Normally I agree with Danny but I think everyone should just lighten up, learn to laugh at themselves and stop being so bloody insecure. None of us have to justify what we love to anyone else and constantly demanding gaming be taken seriously says more about the person doing the whinging than society at large.
Do what you do, love what you love, screw anyone who says you're not good enough and lighten the hell up.
We could compare the two all day long but my point was that Ryse is not a 4. Batman is awesome and better than ryse, I agree. But ryse is pretty damn fun too and certainly not a 4
Like I said, haven't tried the MP. Will probably replay the campaign again for collectibles. It's a worthy addition to my collection and a great graphical showpiece. I got the same feeling of "this is fucking awesome" that I got when I first played gears if war.
