Wayl, as a college student, I'm fairly strapped for cash. That coupled with the fact that as of right now, I don't play it much anymore. However, once school starts and I stop working fulltime, I'll be gaming more, moreso when the new consoles come out. So, I mean, good arguments abound as to why I should keep it that I didn't really consider fully.

Because I don't think I'd get a better value to put towards a next-gen console, whatever it may be. Also, where? To Gamestop for credit or on Ebay, where nobody will probably want to buy it?

I ask because one such game doesn't really exist to my knowledge. We know games like COD, Battlefield, or any other competitive FPS's all focus on team play. But why has the UFC and MMA become popular recently? Because it removes the "weakest link" aspect we see in team sports, and it depends solely on the skill of the fighter alone on whether he/she wins or not. So, could this concept be applied into a new kind of FPS and find success?

Hello, this is my first post on GameSpot, I want to get reactions for an idea of a competitive FPS game that'd insert a breath of fresh air into the market. This idea may or may not exist on another console or on the PC, but I am, at my most intensive, a casual Xbox gamer. But, I think I would have a great time playing this type of game if it would be made right. Here it goes: Like Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War (which is TPS, but who cares), and any other competitive FPS, they are all comparable to team sports: the goal is to win and to have fun. However, they are all TEAM sports, with the dependency level on your teammates' skill high. Like in team sports - you're only as good as your weakest link. Meanwhile, why have we seen a rise in the popularity of MMA and the UFC? Because the team aspect is no longer applicable - in a mano-a-mano fight, the better fighter comes out victorious. Well, why not apply this to a new game, one which is specifically designed for 1v1 multiplayer. Now you may be saying things like: "But all those games you mentioned have the ability to be played like this." You are correct, but those games are a) not specifically designed for one-on-one gameplay and cater almost exclusively towards the team aspect, and b) have had no Matchmaking playlists for 1-on-1 combat - Halo and Gears of War have never had one, to my memory, and the only Call of Duty that had it was Modern Warfare. In terms of gameplay, it would have to have the feel of an arcade shooter, like Halo or even Unreal Tournament. This one-shot, one-kill gameplay like in realistic shooters (like Battlefield or Call of Duty) obviously wouldn't work. Also, loadouts wouldn't exist, as it would detract from the level playing field that arcade shooters (and MMA, to use a real-life metaphor) have. Everything would have to be 100% balanced. I'd be up to explaining more about this idea, as I feel like this is a game that the Xbox community could use right now or at some point in the X1's lifetime. But first, I'd like to get the forum's reaction on my general idea. Could this type of game make it and be well-regarded as THE competitive game to play on XbL?
