leimeisei - "Now, as for PC gaming, i need to say that I just tried vista on a 2000 dollar computer and ran a high graphics game with Vista and DX10, and, well, it sucked because vista is buggy and crashed alot, so i dont have much good stuff to say about it right now." Would be interresting to know wich game you played that used DX10. And which graphics card and drivers you used, I thought no one was even able to do proper benchmarks in DX10 but here you are sitting on a goldmine, a complete game in DX10. "It is not a guess, and believe me, I build computers... "

ShadowBass989's comment is a good example of uninformed garbage. We are talking about the european/australian launch here. My 360 works fine but it does sound a bit much. My first PS2 sounded horrible when spinning DVD's and broke a few weeks after the guarantee was out. My second one lasted a little longer and my third and current one sounds like it is about to die any second. As for pricing, I am left the choice of using Microsoft rechargable batteries which I can replace myself or have extra sets of batteries. I don't have to buy a new controller when the batteries are dead. I don't know what else you are referring to. You can't get a BluRay player for the 360 and I am not interrested in that or HDDVD player for that matter, if I wan't hidef movies I'll wait until HDDVD camp folds and everyone supports BluRay or the other way around. I want a separate player as my experience withe the PS2 DVD and other consoles DVD players is not very positive. So you are a fanboy ready to pay anything for whatever Sony releases, would you pay a grand for Sony branded turd as well? ShadowBass989 are you playing any online games with your friends on your shiny new PS3? I'm just saying if you want a good online gaming experience there is only one choice right now and it is the 360. I wouldn't pay 850USD (price for PS3 in Sweden) for the 360 either, even if it had HDMI and HDDVD. The price in Swden for the premium edition is 450USD, allmost half of PS3, far better value to me. I have preordered a PS3 since my PS2 is about to die anyday now, but that won't make any sence any longer.

Some comments are just plain lies and for a while I tried to reply to these people with facts. It's useless. Just don't believe a comment without source. First off, Jeff Gerstmann is right in that the US PS3 will be replaced with the same version we get in europe eventually, since sales aren't exactly skyrocketing, who knows when but probably this year. This has been confirmed to me by the Swedish Playstation PR team (Egmont) after sending them an angry email with tons of question not including this. No questions were really answered more than that he confirmed that the EmotionEngine was not only used for PS2 games. Second the Emotionengine might do more than just emulate PS2 games but my guess is developers have been forbidden to take advantage of this since this has been Sony's strategy all along. Had they just been upfront about it from the start and not badmouthing MS for having poor BC it wouldn't have been such a big deal. Currently all I know is that it does DTS 7.1 and hence the Euroversion will downconvert DTS 7.1 to 5.1. Source Gamasutra. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=12874 Third. Some people are saying th EE+GS (EmotionEngine+GraphicsSynteziser) is beeing removed, this is not true, the GS will still be there probably easing the work of the emulator, one of the hardest issues with the Xbox emulator on the 360. Source Gamasutra. http://gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=12909 As many Sony fanboys either are too young to have experience or conviniently forgotten the first generation PS2 had lots of problems, more so than the 360. Mainly with the optical drive. Personally I am on my third PS2 and it will not last much longer but some great PS2 games is coming out this year. As developers have learned every single thing there is to learn about the PS2 it will be so much harder to emulate the recent and coming releases than the early ones. In sweden the PS3 will be 43% more expensive than in the US, we will get less hardware and we get it late. Off course this is bad news, how would it be possible to make a positive article about this? I asked the swedish Playstation organisation (Egmont) in several ways if there is anything positive for european gamers about this news, nothing, not one soothing word, all he said was he hoped Socom would be on the BC list because he personally loved it.

Myugenjin: "Also many of those pal territory's make a fraction of what we make here in America so the little gamer community they have are the REAL Hardcore gamers beit Sony or MS...,they have no casual gamer that makes up the masses! So considering the ammount of games that DIDN'T make it to PAL territory's it's probally won't make a difference to them over there about the emulation thingy." Were do you get that from? The size and demographic of european and north american gamers is very much alike. We are a bit more pro Sony over here market research shows, but is probably due to the the fact that Microsoft is an american company and americans don't like foreign stuff that much. My guess Europe will be the biggest market for PS3 when it comes to money, units will be a toss up between NA and Europe. JoseY2Joey: Oh my god are you not very smart? How do you think they are going to increase the BC list on the PS3? Welcome to the online generation. Even without software BC, sony is famous for patching since the PSP and now with the PS3.

wildsnipe: "Also, I don't remember GS posting a Xbox 360 "Gut Reaction" for their limited backwards compatibility." Microsoft was upfront about this and released the 360 almost simulaneously in europe and hardware specs were identical. "Now, GS also failed to mention once again the good side to this. A majority of the launch games will retail at 39,99 euros ($49.99) or whatever, which is cheaper than the 360 games at line up." Not true pricing is the same for 360 and PS3 in reality. "So you Europeans should be happy for that price drop when a lot of 360 games haven't even seen a drop after a year." Not true, prices in sweden for the following games have dropped from original 86USD (which is what PS3 games will seell for) to: Final Fantasy XI Online (11) 21USD Perfect Dark Zero - Black Edition 26USD King Kong 28USD Perfect Dark Zero 28USD NBA Live 06 (2006) 28USD GUN 28USD A total of approximately 60 titles has seen a price reduction since its launch. "What the hell is the problem on PS3 that 360 didn't have?" Price, and broken promises. Otherwise there is a lot of complaints that are valid for the 360. For me the worst is they haven't lived up to my expectations on XBLA.

TSIllusion & ryokinshin6x3: Ok ping out and lag is network related and I don't understand how you can mix that into BluRay being crucial for games in HD. All you are saying is actually that true HD needs more processing power, not more storage. And as for texture size being the only measurement of HD I think you are just wrong. There is no difinition for what size a texture should have to be shown in HD 720p or 1080p and textures is far from everything when getting high detail. Technical terms aside I have yet too see a spectacular looking PS3 game. Granted 1080p is more than twice the pixelcount of 720p and should allow for stunning detail. I don't have a 1080p TV so until then, again I don't see why I should buy a PS3, and trying to fictional texture sizes is not really what I look for in a console, great games that look great, sure. Motorstorm is natively 720p so it is not a great example.

ChimTheGrim21: I don't believe physics is better in Motorstorm than the better 360 games. However this will hopefully change as developers get more used to the PS3 hardware. But until then I see no reason to get the PS3. I have allways had all consoles and I am very dissapointed with the PS3 so far, especially as a european. This might be the first console in over fifteen years I won't get at launch.

TSIllusion : I played oblivion on my 360 using a DVD9 it is HD. Furthermore the PC version of the game can handle greater resolutions than HD and it too is on a DVD. Since you are a sony fanboy I guess gow mean God Of War to you, great game but I believe Gears Of War is one of the greatest looking games in HD and it too is delivered on DVD9.

ryokinshin6x3: http://insider.ign.com/index/head.html And every other comparison I have read about gives the 360 the edge. Online chat in all games just being an extra bonus. Only Halo2 has perfect online Matchmaking but from what I've heard every single Xbox 360 has better online play than any PS3 title. The only edge the PS3 had over the 360 was the PS2 library, now it is gone with crappy software emulation it will just as bad as the 360. To my knowledge there is no PS3 title that is being improved because of the Bluray which would be the other key advantage over the 360. So all you US fanboys, this is about the european PS3 being even less great for more money than the US and Japan, how can you not see this?

drewt003: if you read my comment properly you have seen or best version available on a console. Not s ingle game released on 360 and PS3 has been deemed better on the PS3. I play crackdown like crazy, I just took the ten best ranked games from gamerankings. Not very many titles are or will be exclusive. Best pick if you want exclusive original titles is the Wii anyway. Until Halo 3 there will not be a AAA title for any console. All I am saying is that ir is no reason to buy a european PS3. Not for the near future. TSIllusion : HD is dependant on processing power. Try watching streaming 1080p content h.264 encoded on a general PC and you will understand. DVD9 HD has been around for some time and is given a new life as apart from current WMV9 encoding H.264 decoding DVD players will be available and so is software to burn your own DVD9 HD. So laugh away since you are wrong on every point.
