By the way, here's a small tip about using Power Plus: Using the Jump action command will do more than the hammer action command if you have one or more Power Plus badges equipped.

Hey, if you haven't played Paper Mario: TTYD for at least roughly a bit more than halfway through the story (about the 5th chapter out of 8 total), then don't bother with this. I'm just wondering about a list of questions i came up with just now, and I'm wondering what all your answers are! If you're in a hurry, then try this later maybe, because this list is 20 questions long. Question 1: Who is your favorite partner? Question 2: Who is the partner you actually use most often? Question 3: What stat do you think is the most important to upgrade: HP, FP, or BP? Question 4: Have you ever tried to collect all 85 badges? Question 5: Have you ever tried to get the Tattle Log data on every single enemy in the game (including bosses)? Question 6: Have you ever tried to cook all 57 recipes? Question 7: Have you ever tried to get all 100 Star Pieces? Question 8: How often do you switch badges? Question 9: What is your favorite badge? Question 10: Do you think Power Plus (+1 attack to all of mario's attacks except a couple) is worth 6 BP? Question 11: Do you ever use the Trouble Center? Question 12: What is the most boring chapter to you? Question 13: What is the most fun chapter to you? Question 14: What is the deepest floor you reached in the Pit of 100 Trials? (you can easily check via the northeast sign in the room before the first actual room) Question 15: Out of 10, what do you rate the battle system in this game? Question 16: What common enemy (a.k.a. not a boss) do you hate the most? Questions 17 & 18: Have you heard of the "Amazee Dayzee?" If so, do you know what is so special about it? Question 19: Have you ever given the green rat in the east corner of the Rougeport...well....port, any coins? Question 20: Is there anything you can think of that would make the game better in your opinion? (Remember, it's E for Everyone; make sure your addition(s) keep(s) it that way) You can add any other comments about the game below your answers. My answers: (if you don't want to, you don't need to read this) 1. I don't really think i have a favorite, honestly. 2. Goombella for her Tattle ability in battle (and to hear her funny comments on things around you) 3. Too hard to decide! 4. Ho boy, of course not! That'd make the game much, much longer than I could handle! 5. Yes, actually. In fact, I'm trying to do that right now as I type this! 6. No, but i might in the future..... .....nah. 7. Heck no! That'd make the game too boring with all the backtracking! But i do check behind walls and interact with objects (bushes, trees, pipes, etc.) when I'm in a new area. 8. I've been changing it for upcoming batttles that my current badges won't help too much, but usually not that often. 9. I don't think I have a favorite, but I do use Spike Shield often. 10. I do think that's a bit of a rip-off, but I have one equipped because I once got a Power Plus from the Star Piece Trader, and later on in the game, I upgraded BP for two levels, forgetting to add more badges after it. Then i went to badges once, and noticed that i had 6 unused BP, so I thought "Ah, what the heck - it'll surely help out in many battles to come!" Sure enough, it did! I also obtained a second one, but I think 12 BP is going a bit too far. 11. Yes, actually. I look online for which trouble gives what (if i haven't practically memorized it already from the past times i've played) and do troubles that give me cards for the Pianta Parlor. I love the Plane Game! 12. Definately Chapter 2. The Punies are simply a hassle to control and make sure they don't get lost once you have 101 following you! If the game designers made this chapter a second longer, I'd probably go nuts from boredom! 13. Chapter 3. It's so fun to fight your way up to the champion, and give him a taste of his own medicine - RAWWWK THE HAWK HIMSELF! Plus, the things you do inbetween batles are okay, too. 14: I can't check now, because I'm in the middle of Chapter 5. I'll edit this answer as soon as i arrive at Rogueport! 15: A full-out 10. I love how it is turn based, (I was a die-hard Pokemon fan when I was a lil' tyke, but I only like the game today) but the Action Commands make it so that you don't bore yourself just waiting for your turn to begin again! I also love the idea of the SuperGuard - it's a give, take situation: You get the ability to dodge all damage, and, in most cases, damage the attacker 1 damage reguardless of it's defence, but it's much, much harder to get the timing correct compared to the regular Guard (which decreases damage taken by 1) 16. As of now, Crazee Dayzees and Hyper Clefts, because once, in Chapter 4, after I fought ????? (not saying his real name in case people at that point are reading this) the first time, (when you loose all of your partners) i went back to Twilight Town, but I ran into a group of enemies, which, in order from left to right in battle, were: Amazee Dayzee, Hyper Cleft, Amazee Dayzee. The first one made me fall asleep, then the Hyper Cleft charged it's attack power, and the second Amazee Dayzee ran away.then next turn, the first Amazee Dayzee also ran away, and the Iron Cleft from this point on kept charging, then attacking, then charging, then attacking again until I died. Who knew that the enemies who really put up a fight were two flowers and a rock!? 17. Yes i have, actually. I have played Paper Mario roughly 4/5 of the game so far via the Wii's Virtual Console, and the Amazee Dayzee appeared in Flower Fields. 18. Assuming that their purpose is similar as it's reason in Paper Mario, if you somehow defeat one, you gain a trumendous amount of Star Points. I've encountered quite a few of these special flowers in TTYD, but I have yet to defeat one. 19. Yup. I've given him either 400 or 500 coins. If you have no clue what this does, later on in the game (you can pay him up to until post-Chapter 4), he'll come back. He'll pay you 3 times the amount you gave him. (example: you give him 200 coins, later on he gives you 600) 20. Only one: after the actual story ends, the game loses most of what makes it fun. There's simply not enough to do post-ending. Well, I guess you could try to get all Badges, Recipes, Tattle Log Data, and Star Pieces among other things, but that's simply too much work for me to do all four at a time!

I've got quite a few. FPS games. I simply can't stand these. I hate how it's just the same thing - Shoot, shoot, run, fail, die, shoot more, run & shoot, die, repeat. I just can't understand at all how these can rule the market. Bloody and violent games(+ FPS cont.) Also, why does billions of guts and gallons of gallons of blood exploding everywhere make a good game? It simply makes no sense. All the people at school and stuff say that a game is bullcrap if it's got no blood, guts, or guns. M for mature? That just means that immature, idiotic teens will play it. Final Fantasy games (+ some other RPG games) I don't get what all the commotion for this series is. I've played the first one that my sister got from VC because her online friends said she should get it. At least, it's an RPG, but not a series i wouldn't recommend if you enjoy turn-based RPGs. Personally, i prefer Paper Mario TTYD's battle system. It's turn-based, yet you can still use actions to turn the flow of the battle into your favor (such as pressing A to guard so you take less damage from an attack, or pressing B at a much harder to master timing to actually counter-attack, negating ALL damage and damaging the foe as well. I think i'll go play this later, come to think of it.) Okami I may be jealous of Japan of the fact that they get video games, consoles, and handhelds before us, but this game is one that i'd be glad if they kept it. My sister is a fanatic about this game, and she's beat it. What's so weird about her beating that game? The fact that she's beaten it almost 50 times! (and that's no exageration!) The only things I can think of as reasons she likes that game (other than the aspects that make up a game) is that she used to be a fan of that Naruto show (once, when we moved (we've moved often, but we plan on staying in the house we're in now), she wanted to decorate her room with a Naruto poster, hang lights that looked like orange balls with light bulbs in them, and even paint a small Naruto spirit thing by her bed. we did all of the above except the last one), plus she draws a lot. (in the game, you draw all these weird things to progress through the story) Other games i dislike for miscellanious reasons: Metroid games GTA games Sims games Most racing games (exclusion(s) : Kirby Air Ride) Most Legend of Zelda games (exclusion(s) : A Link to the Past) The ones that i hate the absolute most are FPS games (read why if you haven't at the top of this comment)

Is spelled Zack, not Zach. I'll bet i know what was really going on: After a show, Dylan and Cole Sprouse (the two actors for Zack and Cody) go home (where ever it is) and pick up their DSi's. A reporter sees the two playing Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver versions, and makes a big, fat lie to the public of the nearby area that the two are helping out Nintendo by filming a commercial for the two games and the pokewalker. Worried, Dylan and Cole think that if they don't, the public will completely ignore them, so the go along and do it. a month later, viola - this commercial showed up. Where did i get this information? My mind - I'm pretty sure that this could be a possibility to what happened behind it all. Can't two actors get some time to just be kids playing a game!?

[QUOTE="Diablo-B"][QUOTE="Mariofire44"]... think about this: at the rate he's playing FPS games, he's more likely to become a criminal later in life. (think about it: the boy gets the feeling that shooting random people is good. Later in life as an adult, he might remember that feeling, and actually do it. in real life. If that's not enough to make you want to get him to stop, then i just might report child neglect on you) Second, your son might not trust many people he doesn't know, because in his mind, he might think "i don't know if these people are good or bad. I'll just assume the worst." Chances are that you see this if your son generally avoids people he doesn't know. If all else fails, simply ban him from playing it, and move it somewhere he doesn't know and/or can't reach. He'll get very angry at you, but at least it solves the problem!

This is a myth that many try to spread that isn't true. Games with shooting or blood don't make people into "criminals". Most gamers are the most liberal and passive people you will encounter. The junior high kids who play online have horrible mouths but that has more to do with their maturity level then the games since every one at the age thinks its cool to have a potty mouth. Now if a person already has a violent tendencies then they may be drawn to violent games/movies/literature but its not the games/movies/books that cause it. Domestic abuse that he witnesses or experiences will have cause him to be violent, not games. Its like a person watching superman and going on the roof and jumping so that they can fly. A person that already has mental instability might be influenced by superman flying but normal people will not

Now, i never said that it turns EVERYONE into a criminal. A good example would be my cousin. He's about 4 years older than me. (how old that is is none of you business) He's ALWAYS playing FPS games on his Xbox 360. Ever since he played his first gun game (he wants to be in the army when he grows up; he knows a lot about guns, and he likes them. Of course, he never used a real one, or at least i don't think so), every time i go over to his house, i'm always given some sort of psysical pain. And he knows that I wouldn't do much about it. Mostly because that would "set him off" like a bomb - he hurts me much more. Another thing limiting me from protecting myself is that he's had heart surgery in the past - twice, i believe. If i throw one wrong punch, i could kill my cousin. (i doubt it, but it is a possibility....)

What? This seems like a relatively normal pokemon event. What was special may I ask?DeanG642
The special thing about it is that it simply defies almost all odds. It's a Kakuna, level 7, facing a Bulbasaur, level ~16. Even if both of Kakuna's types super effect Grass types (bug & poison), the main problems are levels, stats, and moves. Every pokemon raises stats differently, even same species. All Kakuna knew was Harden, String Shot, and Poison Sting. The only attack that does damage out of those is poison sting, and that is an extremely low amount of damage, lower leveled or not. Poison Sting has a ~10% chance of poisoning the foe - usually failing to have little effect, in other words.another significant thing is that the Bulbasaur didn't use Vine Whip often - one more attack from it, and the Kakuna would faint. The Abra, on the other hand, was simple: Abra only knows Teleport. Teleport in trainer battles swaps it out for another pokemon, similar to simply going to the "pokemon" option and choosing to shift pokemon. Abra was the last pokemon, so therefore, teleport was useless, giving all the time in the world for Kakuna to finally win the battle.

[QUOTE="Mariofire44"]I've played Video Games for longer than as far back as i can remember, so i'll tell you what games i really liked playing when i was 8 years old: If your son has a lot of friends (or at least one) that live(s) nearby, and you have a gamcube (with multiple controllers), i'd recommend Kirby Air Ride. GameSpot only rated it a 5.1, but they most likely didn't use the multiplayer features. Other great gamecube games are Parer Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Heck, you might even get a kick out of this, because there are four different files; the game is only single player, but it is a great game to start with if you want to get into RPG-styled games!) and Sonic Mega Collection (a real bargain, because it's a lot of games from the Sega Genesis and maybe a few others for a good price) I'm not sure what games are good for him for the Xboxes and the Playstation 3, because i never got those. But, then again, it'd probably keep the same problem, if not make it worse, because most of the games for those systems are either FPS or are very bloody. You could also try to pretend to get into the game he's playing. (assuming you're not already liking the game) That way, you can see what's actually in the game. If you see anything more than some blood (about the real-life equivelant of a handful or less; come on, we all see some blood as children, from cuts and bruises! Definately never the amount you'd see in some FPS games), you know you need to take some actions. (If not, then try to explain to your wife that it's not too much of a deal) First of all, if your wife's request isn't enough, think about this: at the rate he's playing FPS games, he's more likely to become a criminal later in life. (think about it: the boy gets the feeling that shooting random people is good. Later in life as an adult, he might remember that feeling, and actually do it. in real life. But your not shooting random people really in MW2, it is mainly enemy soldiers, and in No Russian you end up getting shot in the end, plus later in the game when you have to fight in the favila you are penilized for killing civilians.

Yes, but it's still shooting people he doesn't know.

ah, yes, RPGs. It's a somewhat small chance - about 40% chance it'll work, and a lower % each time you try. Pokemon is good, addicting, and now gets people active (with the Pokewalker you get with Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. It can only connect to those two games and other pokewalkers to get free items to use in-game. Keep that in mind!). Another way to get him into RPGs is to let him play either Paper Mario (if you have a Wii, as long as you have a classic controller and a Wii Points card as well as internet connection to the internet on the Wii, you can buy the game on Wii Shop, as it is most likely not being sold anymore.) for the Nintendo 64 for Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I personally think the second one is more entertaining than the first, These two games have more of a chance to get your son addicted to RPGs, because they are simple, yet extremely addicting. the only backfire is that if he talks about RPGs at school in 6th grade and over, there's a huge chance that he won't make any friends, and maybe even loose some friends because of all that Middle and High School "popularity" nonesence. (it's a huge risk to get him addicted to RPGs, but if you're willing to gamble, you can try; somehow telling him to not tell people he plays them unless he knows that they play them too and have friends is a good idea, because it'll lower the chance that he'll tell people he plays them in 6th grade and up.)
